Great insulator, just a terrible two-way zipper.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Jacket is the best I’ve ever gotten. It keeps me warm in any weather. But the two-way zipper often gets stuck when trying to connect and zip up or unzip. The two-way zippers don’t seem to connect easily and often get caught and I have to spend several seconds up to a minute trying to get it to connect or disconnect. For such an amazing Jacket, you would think Marmot would spend more engineering making sure the zipper works fantastic too.

Excellent down filled winter jacket with Gore-Tex

I recently purchased the Oslo Jacket in blue. Overall, I am very pleased with this garment. The length reaches past the waist, but well above the knee. The Gore-Tex shell provides waterproof coverage and wind proofing. The down filling keeps the jacket lightweight while providing warmth in WNY. The hood is a great feature for wet winter weather. One main inside lapel pocket for small items such as your wallet or phone, an outside lapel pocket, and two slash handwarmer pockets. As other reviewers have commented, the main zipper seems to stick a bit, but I hope that it loosens up with regular use.

Incredible!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Marmot Oslo strikes a perfect balance between minimalism and functionality. Water proof, warm, and light weight. The function and aesthetics are what drew me to this parka/jacket/coat. This is a long parka and the fit is more generous than some other Marmot offerings. The Oslo works very well for a taller individual or one that has a long torso. I am 6’3” tall and weight 220lbs and purchased a size XL. I could have gone down to a size large but wanted extra wiggle room to layer underneath (although not necessary as this thing is crazy warm!). To top it off... Marmot quality!!!

Wind, rain and snow in MN

The coat is advertised; rain, wind and snow cannot penetrate. I purchased the coat in early Dec ‘19 and it has been through -16 temps, 40mph winds and rain/snow and held up well. Overall I am very happy with the coat, aside from a few small complaints. The zippers are a little finicky (due to the tapes seams they’re a little riding) and the hood being fully attached is both an asset and a hindrance (asset as it’s always there and hindrance because it makes zipping up the front closure hard when not using the hood). Also, the coat feels a little boxy as there’s no waist cinching. Overall happy with coat and feel it meets the functional needs of what I wanted from a thigh length, water proof parka without a lot of bulk.

Excellent around town as a light parka

I bought this to wear through the winter 'around town'. The cut is plenty long (mid-thigh) and the chest and shoulders are roomy. The sleeves are just the right length for me and I like the elastic cuffs within them. Heat escapes readily around my neck when I'm not wearing bulky clothes underneath. The warmth is appropriate for any conditions in the vicinity of the freezing mark. With the Gore-tex outer shell, its kept me dry in cold rain but let's be clear - with down insulation stitched permanently in a waterproof shell, it is not a technical setup. The mid-thigh length is very comfortable for standing and walking but limits freedom of movement. So I won't take this jacket hiking or for anything where I could break a sweat.

Disappointing zipper

Nice jacket, definitely warm even though it’s much lighter in weight than what I’m used to. It’s comfortable and looks nice. The downfall for mine is the zipper hasn’t worked well since day 1. Usually takes me 5-10 tries to get it to start zipping up, frustrating to say the least. I wish it was a more heavy duty zipper because it feels like I’m about to rip it every time I’m fighting with it. We’ll see how long this lasts. 3.5 stars due to the frustration involved. If it wasn’t for that, easily a 5 star purchase for the price.

Super warm!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A super warm jacket, perfect for sub-freezing winter strolls. So warm that I can't wear it in the car for longer than about 10 minutes without over heating. My only complaints are about the pocket layout. I wish the two chest pockets were behind the down insulation so things like your phone can stay warmer and not drain battery when exposed to the cold. And secondly, I wish the hand warmer pockets were higher up near the rib cage than down by the hips. This are relatively minor complaints, though.

Almost perfect, great for Steamboat winter!

First got to use this when I came back from seeing family and it had dropped to below zero. Keeps me warm while just wearing a T-shirt and I can take that down to below zero, layering with a sweater allows me to take it further. The internal fleece cuffs are a nice touch and the two zippered pockets in addition to the handwarmer pockets add more than enough storage. The only gripes I have with this jacket are the non-insulated handwarmer pockets and lack of a drawcord hem (but this isn't really a huge issue for me since it's a mid-thigh length parka). I decided on getting a medium since I run warm and don't plan to layer much, plus a large has too much fabric around the waist for me. Overall, a fantastic winter coat at a great value, and the Gore-Tex is a nice bit of reasurance.

Good practical warm coat for cold temps

Very comfortable coat, waterproof and very well insulated. It feels light to wear but keeps you very warm, helps that it's long. I ordered Large, maybe a little wide fitting. Good deep pockets.

Excellent purchase

I bought this for my husband who is 6' 2" and 210 pounds. He often wears an extra large because he is broad shouldered and has a long torso and arms. After reading the reviews I bought the large and kept my fingers crossed. It fits perfectly. Very warm and the outer shell keeps him dry yet is breathable so sweat evaporates. Exactly what he was looking for and a great value. A much better coat than others I have seen priced much higher. The blue is a gorgeous color.
