I purchased these shoes 5 months ago. I bought them to commute in, from my house to the train and short walk to my office. Nothing heavy. I have never run in these, though I have rowed in them indoors. Fit: Great fit, excellent for long days on my feet(I work at a standing desk). I replaced the insoles with Superfeets-that is a solid combo for me. Quality issues: At this time, the vibram sole has worn thru to the EVA on both heels, the uppers in the toe box are frayed and open, the lining at the edge where it meets the outside of the TPU(?) material has also been worn to the understructure. the inside heel padding and cloth are shredded and I can see the foam. I would not buy these again, given that they only lasted 5 months, in a commuter usage setting. I was disappointed, having worn Merrells ever since my Scouting days...they used to last more than a minute. Dang it, Merrell , Do Better.
I bought a pair of MQM 3's in February 2023 and thought as a comfortable day to day work shoe and occasional trail runner. The comfort was great, but the quality of material was very poor. In December 2023 they look like this. I was disappointed how quickly they fell apart along the seams. The vibram soles are in great condition still. I've ran in them maybe 10 times and they are now not fit for that activity. I acknowledge I may be in need of wider footwear but these are really poor materials.
I bought these April 28th 2024, and I have had to replace them in the first week of September. Maybe they are counterfit, but I expected Merrells to last much longer. The tread wore through and the fabric opened up between the toe and laces. To begin with they were comfortable and nice and light. I walked with them mostly with a mix of trail and hard surface.
In have been wearing Merrells exclusively for over 20 years. Over time they have been totally satisfactory except for the last 2 pairs. A Pair of winter boots that lost their eyelets in the first 2 weeks and this pair on which the fabric eyelet rip after wearing the shoes 3 times. I doubt I will buy another pair.

I bought these in the summer for my teenaged son and within a week, they started getting holes in them and 5 months later, there are many huge holes in the upper fabric. Thankfully, Merrell is an amazing company and have offered to replace them. But I think there's a design flaw with the materials they've used.

This shoe would be 4stars+ if it lasted more than 4 months. I wear this everyday doing light construction. I've always worn trail shoes for work, but over the years I have yet to find one that lasts. Each and every shoe fails at the same location (toe box). I did enjoy the fit, and sizing.
Nice hiking shoe. It's light, it's sole is suitably stiff, the sole has a nice grippy tread. The toe-cap rubber is already coming unglued, after ~2 months of relatively light walking on simple dirt trails. Five stars if wasn't coming unglued. No matter how good it is, if it falls apart, it becomes worthless.
They’re comfortable and breathe well. That being said the construction isn’t up to par. Both sides split across the toe box and once they start the fabric doesn’t stop. They lasted 3 months, and two hikes. Now I’m wondering if I should return them or just find something with a more substantial structure.
Lighter than many shoes from Merrell, super comfortable right out of the box. Not sure if the slightly softer "tan" vibram sole will wear as well as the "black" ones do, but makes for a very cushy walk on trails or sidewalks.
Very happy, initially, as the Merrell fit is perfect to size. However after just a few months of wear [alternating with other shoes] the top split a small amount on top of my little toe first on one shoe, which was no big deal as it was hardly noticeable - but then the other side as well in the same spot, which quickly got larger and then it was a big deal, as I could no longer wear them. I am not abusive on shoes, as I'm 75 years old and 155 pounds! Poor testing and quality for new designs.
