For walking through a field or a sidewalk.
Youll fall right off these shoes on a true trail hike guaranteed. Its like the team that designed these shoes have never hiked, ran a true trail, on a rugged mountain, or a 10 mile run through terrain. Great quality shoes. Comfortable, fit well, not for a wide foot. the elastic tie is utterly cheap, I would not count on that lace on a 6 hour hike. The out/mid soles need to be much wider for impact, landing, stability. I would not recommend these Speedarc Matis Shoes for hiking, trail running, mountains, long distance. They are a cool lookin shoe, and have a great quality to them. Just wear them out for style not performance
Snug to get on, good sole traction and high sole
I like Merrell a lot, and these are ok. The fit is good and they are relatively comfortable. The traction looks like probably the best part. What I meant by "high sole" is that it makes you taller. The sole is fairly thick, but that also makes me feel like it could be less stable on tricky terrain. They fair hiking shoes though I use them as an all around medium duty shoe. I wish they were slip-on, but they are not at all -- another review indicated they were(?). For a hiking shoe I ended up getting and prefer the Hoka Anacapa 2 (also not slip-on ;-). Color and sizing were as-expected/good -- Size: 10.5, color: black.
