Super underrated shoe, have 5 pairs on rotation. This should be the replacing the Kinvara, or make this the Kinvara— not sure why Saucony keeps the Freedom in the shadows. Routinely take this on training runs and then straight into day in the city with its understated good looks. Would love to see a slightly cushier stack of up to 32mm in the PB foam for more longer distances up to a marathon, but keep the Freedom as a relatively lower stack shoe in your lineup
These are the most comfortable shoes I have had in a very long time! Had them on for 8hrs on the first ware and they were great
The fit on the Freedom Five is way off from previous versions. Much shorter and less room in the toe box. I ordered an 8, which I have always been in the Freedom (and in the Ride and Triumph as well) and ended up with bruised toe nails (which I'll probably lose) after my first longer run in the new version. I purchased an 8.5 and realized it isn't just the shortness of the shoe but also just less room in the toe box because sizing up didn't fully address the issues. Honestly, really heartbroken that the sizing in this version turned out so badly.
I've bought these particular shoes repeatly for years. They are my favorite. I'm not a runner, but I use them for most everything...cross-training, walking the dogs, pickleball. They are really comfortable. I just wore them while I worked a 3-day conference where I stood most of the day. Normally, my back and feet are killing me at the end of each of these days. This time, they weren't. They are nicely cushioned and supportive. I got them in a size 7 in this model, which is my normal size. I have needed a 7.5 in previous years. I only have 4 stars as I don't love the look of this model as well I did the last one. It's not quite as "sleek". And, the only color left was the pink, which I don't hate, but I would not have prefered.
I tried these in 10 and a 10.5 but there just isn’t enough room in the toe box. Needs both volume and a bit more width. I found the Freedom 4 and those fit well in size 10. If you are going for a more glove like fit then you need bit more room and a stretchier upper to accommodate the toes! Hope the next version addresses my concerns because it took me a long time to find something that works for me!

These may be a good option for someone with narrow feet. I wear a standard width and found these to be extremely tight around the top of my foot. I think it’s because of the inner pocket. They are so uncomfortable. The style looks better in the photos. In real life, the colors are a bit chaotic and not appealing.
We’re sorry this style didn’t work out for you. Thank you for your feedback.
I ran in the Kinvaras for years (I think models 1-9) and a few years back switched to the Freedoms just to see how I liked them. Loved them, still love them, haven’t looked back. Obviously if you need a lot of support or are expecting your running shoes to last 600+ miles this probably isn’t the shoe for you.
Very comfortable shoe. Runs smooth, I have worn the Freedom 3 for several years and must admit I was concerned about making the change but it’s a better shoe for me than even the Freedom 3. I have a narrow foot and this shoe fits great. Whether it’s speed work or hills or just a fun run this shoe works.
I've got tricky feet- bunions on my big toes and currently dealing with plantar fasciitis. So, the 0.4mm drop in the Freedom 5 is great, but I am finding that my bunions hurt ,in part, because the toe box is pretty narrow. I am finding them less comfortable than my Freedom 4s.
I wanted a sleeker shoe for strength training and these are perfect. They fit my custom orthotics, are light as a feather, and the happiest colour possible! Loved them so much that I bought the Shamrock, too. I've worn Saucony for years and they never let me down.
Ruth, So glad you love this style! Thanks for being a loyal Saucony customer and for the 5-Stars. Run for good!
