GREAT winter bicycle helmet!!
Winter inevitably comes. Along with it is the need to continue riding the bike. The classic summer bike helmet just doesn't work in the wintertime as it's just too full of holes for ventilation. Enter the Smith Survey Snow helmet. It has enough ventilation to keep the visor from fogging, but not enough to make your head cold. It has better protection than ANY bike helmet. It keeps your ears warm without blocking exterior sounds. The flip up visor allows you to lift it up when needed even if you wear glasses like I do. The bright white color provides good riding visibility. In short, it's the best winter bike helmet I have found so far. Thanks, SMITH
Skiing Blind
Super excited to try out my new helmet, what a massive disappointment. Had a perfect fresh powder day at the Canyons in Park City, UT on 12/8. Headed up the mountain and immediately started to accumulate snow on the inside of the lens before even getting off the chairlift. It got worse as I skied down. Snow and Ice packed the inside of the lens to the point I couldn't see out. The only way to clear the lens was to take the helmet OFF mid run and try and scrap out the snow and ice. Awful design. Every run all day was the same result. If it's actively snowing or you have opportunity to ski fresh powder leave this helmet at home.
Smith Mips Visor Helmet
Smith Mips Visor Snow helmet is a great alternative to the standard helmet and goggles particularly for those who wear glasses. The helmet visor slides over glasses and fits snuggly without the pressure on your glasses found with traditional goggles. The goggles remain clear with only limited fogging on a windy day of blowing snow. The only complaint, sometimes when you raise the visor it catches on your glasses but given the need to prevent fogging and easy visor raising, the helmet strikes a good balance. Well worth the money if you're tired of having your glasses crushed onto your face by goggles.
Great helmet w visor
Great helmet ,fits very snuggling, w adjustable vents on top, and my main thing is visor, i hate snow googles they just too big and most of time sit on your nose, and because they are too big sit on end of your nose, what is uncomfortable, visor dont touch your nose ,just little touch points on your cheeks, very comfy and you have great vission not limited by snow googles frame
Convenient but not durable
I bought my SMITH Survey helmet in Val Thorens in France on my second last day of snowboarding. Used it once on the last day and really enjoyed the convenience of easy pulling up and down the visor vs my previous set with separate googles. But when I got home, I found that the component part connecting the visor to the helmet is broken. I am so surprised that it can be broken so easily. I live in Hong Kong and there is no authorised dealer in Hong Kong. And my next snowboarding trip is in 2 weeks time in Japan. I hope I can find a replacement part before my next trip. Can anyone give me any advice?
I love this helmet
I am in love with this helmet, it is so much better than my previous one. It fits great, looks great and the fold down lenses are so convenient. I used to use a separate goggle and helmet system and this is so much easier and less fuss. I ordered a size larger than I thought I needed in order to be able to fit a thin beanie underneath and I made the right choice. My only complaint is the space between the visor and my upper cheek allows cold air in but I think with the right face protection it should be okay. Also I had two Smith bags in the box, not sure if this was an accident or what but I appreciate it all of my other pads fit into it perfectly! Two thumbs up for this helmet and Smith
My 13 year old grandson
My 13 year old grandson used his own money to buy this helmet to go skiing. He was so proud of it, and very excited to wear it. He took several falls and credited the helmet for as he says, “saving his life”! 😊
perfect fit
size and color is ok. but the lens kept running down
Not for snowy weather
This is a beautiful, sleek setup. Helmet fit is great. And it's true, the visor affords better peripheral vision than traditional goggles. That said, two issues that could break the deal: when it's snowy, the snow/ice comes into the visor and crusts it over. It's truly unusable in inclement weather, which you have to expect on nearly any day on the slopes. Other issue, the ear padding is so thick it's very difficult to hear conversation. I wanted some coverage for foul weather so ended up ripping out the padding while keeping the basic padding cover.
Perfect helmet for glasses - Did not fog
I used this helmet for 3 days at Steamboat Springs this past weekend. The first day the weather was hot and sunny, the next two were pretty cold with intermittent snow and wind and minimal sun. Each day I had zero issues with fogging of my glasses or the visor goggles, which is the first time I have had that experience in the past 5 or so years while wearing goggles over my glasses. Before I took the plunge with this visor helmet, I ordered 6 different goggles that claim to fit glasses but none felt good at all.
