Smith Code Mips Snow Helmet
Combining a minimalist aesthetic with Aerocore™ construction, the Smith Code Mips snow helmet provides cutting-edge, skate-style protection on the snow, whether you're inbounds or on an alpine tour.

- Rotational motion can cause brain injuries; with Mips®, a low-friction layer slides 10 to 15mm in all directions, reducing rotational motion to the brain during impact
- Aerocore in-mold construction delivers ventilated protection featuring patented Koroyd material, integrated skeletal structure and Aramid filament reinforcement
- Koroyd is an open-cell protective material that absorbs more energy on impact than traditional helmets while also increasing airflow
- AirEvac™ ventilation offers adjustable climate control via 6 vents; can be adjusted even while wearing gloves
- Technical-knit liner provides beanielike comfort and the adjustable Boa® FS360 fit system lets you dial in your fit
- Wayfinder strap system featuring Fidlock® is functional simplicity, making it easy to use just 1 hand for on and off
- Helmet offers goggles integration for maximum airflow and audio compatibility for keeping up with your crew
- Helmet is designed to match goggles-frame curvature, eliminating the gap and allowing alignment between AirEvac and goggles venting to vent warm, moist air away from goggles
- Attaches easily to your backcountry ski pack and has a retainer clip to help keep track of your goggles
- Beanie-compatible design; removable goggles lock
- Compatible with Aleck, Outdoor Tech and Skullcandy audio systems (not included)

I have a pretty large
I have a pretty large head. This has made it hard finding helmets that fit especially when my hair grows out. The Smith code provides a snug and secure fit while still accommodating for my Afro. I stuck with my normal size of a large and am than happy so far! I do have deduct a star because of the non-removable ear pieces. They didn’t feel comfortable to me or anyone else who tried it on. I opted to cut them off which was very easy (almost as if intended). Since then I’ve been nothing but happy with the comfort and it.
Helmet looks very nice. I’m
Helmet looks very nice. I’m very happy to know that it features Koroyd and MIPS. However, helmet is very uncomfortable when liner is removed. And rear goggle clip fell out and was lost after a short time
Best Helmet Ever!
I love this helmet! So much so that I bought a second one to replace my old beat up one and put both my wife and son into one as well. I wanted MIPS quality protection on everybodies heads! They're very comfortable, the fit and padding is great. The adjustability is simple yet functional via the boa system. And the fidlock chinstrap is awesome, especially with gloved hands. As far as looks go, I just picked up the black and red North Face model, It's epic! I can't wait to rock it on the hill this year! Pictured is my old helmet... Not the fresh I'm stoked on.
Excellent helmet but No adjustable vents
Fit well, may be a bit small but that was not a problem. It was warm despite not having a warm light liner as described. I was disappointed as the REI description stated the vents are adjustable and they are not, I even called Smith Optics who confirmed that on their website it does not state that they are adjustable. The REI Description says : AirEvac™ ventilation offers adjustable climate control via 6 vents; can be adjusted even while wearing gloves
Perfect, Comfortable fit & is CUTE
I hadn't upgraded my helmet in 8 years..and I am so glad I finally did. It perfectly hugs my head and has sufficient padding inside that is warm/ comfortable. Fits extremely true to size if you follow the size chart. I have a small head and this is the first helmet I tried that didn't fit silly. Works perfectly with my Smith goggles as well.
The BOA system on the
The BOA system on the helmet is great and the liner looks different from what is shown in the picture. This product did come damaged with two dimples in the helmet. Based on a previous return with Smith that claimed dents were not part of a crash it was not returned, since they don't send back your helmet if that is the determination. Seems to work well with tree impacts with the MIPS functioning as designed. Integration with Glade and Smith goggles works well and prevents fogging. Solid choice for an everyday banger.
The Helmet fits really well.
The Helmet fits really well. Super comfy to wear all day. The liner is nice to have cause you can even wear with out a beanie or buff. The dial on the back is great for easy use and dialing in the fit. Great for micro adjustments on the fly. The magnet buckle is super easy to use and holds surprisingly really well. The air vent are perfect to stay cool on a hot day but keep you warm somehow on a cold day. All around the perfect helmet for me. Would recommend to anyone else. The sizing is true to fit.
very loud
the helmet seems nice and of high quality. i didn't like the chin strap which is hard to connect and disconnect. the deal breaker for me though is the volume. this helmet amplifies sound. the ear covering of this helmet acts like a drum and makes it deafening to use with any sort of speed. i had to wear ear plugs just to use this helmet and ultimately i didn't want to do that both for safety and convenience concerns.
I went 35 years without
I went 35 years without wearing a helmet consistently, they were always too bulky and heavy. I'm old and ready to wear a helmet and the code was so light that I didn't even know I was wearing it. The sizing is a little smaller than the Smith MTB helmets with the padding and ear flaps. Once I took those out I would say the sizing is spot on with my other Smith MTB helmets. If I'm going to wear a helmet, this one looks pretty cool too.
The recommended audio chips do not fit this helmet
This helmet is fine- but the audio chips do not work. They do not fit at all. There is no location for the headphones to go. The liner does not contain the chips in the correct location. Meaning, if you take the helmet off (something the average skier does 10-20 times a day) the headphones fall into the liner. Meaning when you try to put the helmet back on, your headphones are on top of your head. I’m wearing gloves, it’s cold, and I’m trying to ski. I don’t have time to adjust this every single time. Also, to charge the headphones you must remove them from the liner EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. the charge port is not located in a strategic location so you do not have to do this. I’ve been a smith guy my whole life and am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with this new system. The new features of the helmet do not matter if the helmet itself doesn’t work. Bleh.
