These pants are my new favorite hiking pants. They have good stretch and are incredibly comfortable. The waist has velcro bands on the sides that don’t interfere with my pack’s hip belt but do allow me to adjust the waist in the mornings before I’ve had anything to eat and my waist is a bit smaller. There are six pockets total with four of them having zippers. I do wish there were a couple lower on the legs but nothing’s perfect. The bottom of the legs have velcro to cinch them down and a metal hook to attach the front to your shoe or boot laces to form a sort of gaiter when needed. The problem is that I needed to hem them which means to keep the bottom the same I had to create a seam at the ankle. They need to offer a short version.
I put these pants through a full season of day hikes and multi day rugged canoe trips. They are my favorite hiking/portaging/camping pants to date! Pros: dry fast, pocket options, wear and wash well, look good, and as long as they get aired out they won't stink much even after 5 days in the woods. Con: the drawstring at waist is useless to tighten up pants, especially after multiple days of work on portages. This is the only feature where REI brand beats Patagonia.
Pants are incredibly comfortable and have the right amount of stretch. Unfortunately the regular length pants are too short and I had to return (waist was true to size). If you are extra petite or have short legs, these are the hiking pants for you.
