Great for Beach!
Just got back from a weekend using this at the windy beaches of Northern California. It held up very well. The material is very lightweight but seems to be durable. Goes up in 5 min. Take down easy too. Stuff sack could be a lil bit bigger. That being said, it stores very compact. Can’t comment on the stakes included as I use large Orange Screws at the beach. (BTW orange screws are also an excellent product! Highly recommend for beach)
Flimsy, difficult to set up, hard to keep up
I wanted to love this shelter --- but I don't. It's light and packable, and the unit is well-built, but it's extraordinarily difficult to set up on your own (I am experienced), and it's even harder to keep in place if there is even a breeze. The one time I did get it to remain intact, it did work very well, and provided a nice, comfortable respite from the sun. But overall, the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
Blows over in the slightest wind
This shade is a good idea, but just isn't engineered properly. The least bit of wind and it pulls the stakes out and tips over. Tried various ways of securing it but to no avail.
Shade that's lightweight and easy
Moved to the beach and needed an easy, light-weight cover to get out of the sun. This product was just what I needed. Weighing in at about 8 pounds it's light and sturdy. Plus it breaks down to pack easily away. I did need some different pegs to screw into the sand. Great product
ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Awning Elite Shade
very difficult to set up. It cannot stay up on the windy day at the beach. We spent 2 hours try to set it up and had to put it away after 5 minutes. I will have to return it.
Not suitable for high winds
Easy to set up, nice looking and versatile but not suitable for high winds. Center aluminum pole snapped even with guidelines. Provides good shade and rain protection for basecamp. Light weight and small enough for backpacking.
The best sun shade!
We use this on the beach as well as to cover the front bow of our boat when we anchor…excellent design.
great shade for swim meets!
I bought this for my son who spends a lot of time in the summer at swim meets. It’s pretty easy to setup once you figure out where the shorter pole goes. I made it easier by marking this hole for future me to know. Otherwise it sets up fast and packs down small. Very handy!
