ok, not perfect. I’m still looking for an awning
I’ve had mine for several years now. I don’t use it much. It attaches easily enough to my Outback. If there is wind then you’ll want some help. I honestly haven’t seen or used a better tail gate awning. Why don’t I use it? Most campsite parking areas aren’t long enough to set it up. It also requires staking it out which means your spot also has to support ground stakes. It also gets pretty hot underneath it in the NM sun. The good is that it is big. 2 chairs and a table? No problem. Hammock stand? No problem. Even with the wide open sides, I don’t feel the rain coming in. My biggest gripe is that it pushes the hatchback down. It is super annoying to try to access the back of the car and have to push and hold the hatch open. Yes I’ve tried multiple attachment points, but getting it tight enough to shed rain means you fight the tailgate. So can I recommend it? Not really. I haven’t seen or used anything better as far as coverage goes, but something like this needs to just get out of the way. Instead you are always fighting one thing or another with it.
