This shoe fits true to size in the 11.5 and 12 sizes, so do not order smaller as one reviewer suggests. It's a medium to light weight hiker with good stability and very good breathability. Cushioning is minimal, which is fine for hikers. The cleats on the tread are a bit thin, as product photos show correctly, so I would not expect them to maintain traction very long under heavy use. Thanks to REI and Ontrac for super fast delivery!
These shoes were good for width at 12.5, but then the 12 were so narrow I could barely get my foot in the shoe.
These replaced Solomon GTX Low hikers (I've gone through 4 pairs of Solomons in the past two years due to premature wear). These are much more durable with similar same support and tread grip as the Solomons. I wouldn't suggest that the best use for these are trail running - I'd personally look at other options that are more running oriented, while these are a bit more hiking focused. I've found they're great for bagging peaks, 2-3 day backpacking trips, and just kicking around town..
Function: I did not do my DD, so unfortunately 1/2 too big. I used them for about a year only at work (REI). Stayed in my locker so only saw glossed over concrete use. Quality: For the environment being used in, held up. Occasional bumps on walls / fixtures was not enough to tear through material. Minor abrasions and scuff marks. Price: For the price, not as big of a regrettable purchase due to size issue. But, could see them being used as a go to for day hikes.
I wear the shoes for work as I am a Beach Patrol Officer. These shoes are comfortable, keep out the sand and I really like the rubber on the sides. Solid and sturdy, perfect for what I am using them for.
This shoe is sturdy, durable, lightweight and has great traction. I use it for hiking, trail running, and climbing approaches.
Really grippy. They look great. Great fit
