Comfortable, but wearing out quickly

These shoes are very comfortable, well-ventilated, and look great. As a long-time made in USA 990 series wearer (20 years), I decided to try something different at the suggestion of more serious runner friends because I over-pronate. These are a little more comfortable at longer distances. My one big concern is the rate at which the outsole rubber is wearing out. After just three months of use only at gym and on pavement, I'm nearly into the foam on the forefoot. 990s usually last me 18-24 months, but these are not going to make it 12 months at this rate for almost the same cost, hence the 3 stars. Maybe this is typical for this type of running shoe and I'm just unaware, but I will be going back to 990s next time.

THE BEST!!

I have been buying NB 940v since 2019--that is when I was introduced to them. I have purchased each color, but now cant find them anywhere!. This last purchase was after being on line for days. Was very lucky to find them at NB itself. Have you decided to discontinue the 940's?? Please say NO! They are wonderfully comfortable, durable, nice looking and great for pronation. If you have any hidden in a dark corner somewhere, please let me know and I will buy them all! Thank you.

I've been wearing 940's for years and love the 940v4

Been wearing 940's for at least six years and loved the 940v2, then lived with the 940v3 which seemed heavier. I just bought the 940v4 after briefly trying the 990, and love the 940v4. If feels lighter AND has no binding material on the top front of the shoe. Allows the shoe to bend and flex freely without hurting the top of my toes or foot. Rushed back to the store to buy a second pair of 940v4 to rotate shoes and put away the 990!

If you have foot, knee or hip problems- get these

Simply put: this model of NB is the only shoe to get for someone with hip, knee, and/or foot problems but who still wants to be active. This shoe provides all of the stability and comfort you could possibly get in a new without feeling like a giant medical boot on your foot---they are light enough for running or HIIT and generally great for every day wear as well. Plus, there is ample room in the shoe to insert custom orthotics.

940v4 Review

This is the third version of the 940 that I own. The previous version (v3) did not fit as well as the v2 so I was hesitant to purchase the v4. But since all my other NB shoes fit so well, I decided to go with the v4. Let me say that the v4 has revived my faith in NB shoes. They fit like a glove and are equally comfortable on both feet (unlike the v3) and it feels like I'm running on air.

A great shoe and value

I am a longtime New Balance customer and this is another in a long line of high quality shoes I have purchased. Great for walking, casual wear, and general activity. I am not a runner but am very active and these are stable and supportive. I always purchase the wide size (2E) and sometimes size down in length to go with a 4E, but this pair ran true to the size and work very well

Very frustrating changes in the fit.

So this is the second pair I've ordered in the past few months, where i got the EXACT same size I always get, and the same model (just a newer version) but with these newer versions, the shoes are a good inch to an inch and a half longer than they were previously. Why is that? For the 940s, I can at least still run and feel like I'm not going to trip over myself, but I had to throw the motion control pair I had gotten in the garbage (1540 v3). They were ENORMOUS. Like clown shoes. There was so much extra room in the shoe compared to older 1540s I had that my foot was sliding all over the place. It was legit dangerous to run in them. I've already switched to Reebok for my Crossfit needs, and now I am considering doing the same for running, which is a shame, because I have run a dozen or so marathons and half marathons and I always SWORE by my New Balances. I'd love an explanation for these changes in fit.

I will buy these again

I needed a stability shoe and a wider shoe than my old 17-D New Balance cross trainers. The 17-EE 940v4 is perfect on both counts. The light-weight mesh-like material of the uppers and the wider toe box is wonderfully comfortable and the stability feature is just what the doctor ordered. I am ordering another pair, this time in the other color combination.

overall decent shoe

I liked these shoes enough to buy a second pair a year later the only issue I have had with them is they have had to be glues several times over the year on the front of shoe. the first time they had to be glued was the second time I wore them. I am not dissapointed in my purchase I just believe it was a flaw in the first pair I bought.

Great athletic shoe

I like everything about this show. It has great styling and gives firm support. However there is one thing which I dislike and that is in regards to the sole where they have placed it seems a hard piece of plastic in the arch area. It does not affect the wearability however I'm afraid that it may possibly crack.
