Hot touch of luxury

Total luxury purchase, but couldn’t resist the allure of hot shower comfort. This is a welcome companion on car camping, beach, and scuba diving trips. Totally worth it. Overall construction is OK. The main body is really solid. The bottom has a rubber pad, but because the handle is positioned to the side the plastic edge makes contact with the ground first. The handle could be a bit more solid; it’s not “flimsy” but I wouldn’t be shocked if it cracks if/when the unit is knocked over (or falls out of the car). Hose and knob feel like cheap-o plastic rather than an appliance/tool, but I’m picky about such things and it should be cheap/easy to replace. The “ever-wet sponge” design is brilliant. Can definitely do high-efficiency bathing, dish washing, or general cleaning with it. Without the sponge and set to max power there’s more pressure than I expected; not a pressure washer but definitely not a sad dribble either. Water temperature is perfect for me. Based on the habits of people I’ve shared a shower with I tend towards the “warm” side of the spectrum. You might want to test 95° to ensure your expectations are realistic. Temperature control would be neat but would obviously impact cost/reliability/simplicity. Power consumption is reasonable. My EcoFlow Delta Mini says 98W heating and 10W pumping. With the pump on it’s around 70 dB(A)- noisy like any other pump. Don’t think anyone expects or even needs both silent AND hot showers, but you definitely should wait if people in the next tent are sleeping. My main gripe- the reason I wrote this, my first review- is offering people a free sponge in exchange for reviews. Even if REI permits this, it should be disclosed up-front on all affected reviews. How much do you trust “reviewers” that are compensated- and send their name/address to the company? The product really is solid enough that they’d get good reviews without the shenanigans.

No hot shower for me!

I was thrilled to purchase the Geyser Systems Portable Shower back in January, and after months of sitting in the box it was shipped in, I finally had a reason to use it for a Memorial Day Yosemite camping trip! I decided to test it out tonight at home to make sure I knew what I was doing before bringing it to a primitive camp site. I plugged it into my portable battery pack, waited 5 minutes, waited 5 more minutes, etc. until 20 minutes had passed and the indicator light wasn’t showing it was shower temperature. I looked at the Geyser website again and noticed the asterisk next to “heats in 5 minutes!” Apparently this is the case if you add boiling water to the unit. Nice try guys...5 minutes feels like a blatant lie. Even though the water was cold, I decide to just turn it on anyway because it was getting late. The pump started, then what resembled a geyser sprung a leak in two places on the valve, which, I might add, didn’t even leave its plastic packaging until I attached it to the base tonight! Upon closer inspection, I saw two gashes in the valve that couldn’t have possibly happened at my house by opening the packaging with my fingers and attaching the hose to the base. How on earth did I pay almost $300 for this garbage? I’m disappointed that I won’t have a shower this weekend. I wanted to love this product, but it’s time for a redesign, Geyser!

Best In Class for Camping Higiene or Cleaning

This cleaning system is the best I have ever used in my 30 years of camping. No matter where you are it delivers the correct amount of water so that you can clean your body. It conserves water should you want to use it to clean your eating plates or utensils. It uses less than one gallon (0.8 gallons). The weight is amassing at 7.8 lbs. making it portable. You can use it just about anywhere you would like to set your shower area. I have used other systems that are more cumbersome that waist a lot of water and cost a lot more than the Geyser system. I highly recommend this unit, and I can assure you that you will not regret buying it.

Tested, did not meet specification

1. Took over 1 hour and 10 minutes before the 100 F light turned on. It was filled with 3 liters of water. 2. Only achieved 96.3 F degrees (see attached picture) after 1 hour and 10 minutes. I live in Phoenix (ambient temperature was 72 F). 3. The "Low Water When Blinking" light (click) would click on every 60 - 90 seconds at a random frequency (even though it had 3 liters in it). This occurred prior to it reaching 96.3 F degrees. 4. Once the "100 F" light was on, it no longer heated and the water started cooling off (even though it was still on heat mode). 5. Followed the User Manual" directions and videos. 6. Found this same problem reported on Amazon

Game changer

We bought this shower for overlanding. It has been so great! We have gone on several week long trips with this shower, totally off grid and the ability to have a nice warm shower has been a game changer. We have filled in the morning g and left it plugged in while out on the trails all day and when we find camp at night we have a nice warm shower. We have also added almost boiling water to cool water to speed up the process.

Known Valve Issue

I was very excited about getting this product but it is unreliable. There is a known issue with a valve (first generation is prone to cracking). The manufacturer acknowledges the problem on their Instagram and apparently sends a replacement valve upon request. REI has both old and new style valves so watch for what you are buying. I think they should just recall the devices with issues and save customers disappointment and headache. It’s an expensive piece of equipment and we shouldn’t need to cope with design / manufacturing issue straight after opening the box.

You have nothing to lose and alot to gain

I do alot of overlanding and run a solar system on my vehicle. I purchased one of these for ease and convince. I owned the product for about 3 months and used it twice. I ended up having a problem with the heating element after that time. However I called them and told them the issue and I spoke directly with the owner on one occasion as he took time to personal call me. Then support reached out and had a replacement two me in just over two weeks. FANTASTIC customer service and a product family that i will continue to stay with. Give this a try you have nothing to lose if you have any problems tech and customer support are amazing.

Perfect addition for my sailboat

The Geyser shower appears very well made, sturdy, and easy to setup and operate. I purchased it for my racing sailboat (less fresh water to carry), where it will work perfectly with my Lion Energy Safari LT portable power supply. For an initial water temperature of 69F, it took 50 min to heat the water to 95F (with about a 30 min reduction of energy on the portable power supply, which is rechargeable with a solar panel). The Geyser is the perfect solution for my sailboat. Even though the Geyser is sturdy and accessories can be stored inside the unit, a storage bag with pockets would have been a great accessory – I will sew one!

Perfect for Overlanding!

Saw the shower at the Overland Expo in Virginia in October of 2023. Was intrigued- the Geyser was the buzz of the show! They even offered showers for those camping at the event. By the time we decided to purchase one, they were sold out! Afterwards we did purchase at REI. We did purchase the unit with the heater. Perhaps in hindsight we could have gone with the one that does not have the heater. We did try to heat the water using the heater and it took WELL over a half an hour. Our stove in our Sprinter camper van boils water pretty fast, and eliminates the wait. We erected a circular shower curtain- suspended from the van ceiling and collapsible dog pool (31") and my shower was perfect! I have long hair past my shoulders and the 3 liters was exact amount needed to wash both me and my hair.

Leaks

I really wanted to enjoy this product. Really love the concept and was looking forward to using this on some off-roading trips where I need to conserve my water usage. Unfortunately when I tested this out before my trip, I found that the valve was cracked and was leaking water. Then I found out that the base of the unit was leaking water after I had kept it in my garage before returning it. Maybe it's just growing pains for Geyser and I hope they can improve their manufacturing/quality control. Again, want to love this product but it definitely did not live up to my expectations.

Fantastic- but watch for leaks.

I absolutely love this product. We are living in our car while we save money for a van and this thing has made that whole endeavor ten times more survivable, with one caveat- ours has a slow leak on the bottom of the tank. I only noticed after filling it up and leaving it sitting for about the minutes- a puddle of water had formed underneath. Fortunately REI is fantastic and has a phenomenal return policy, so I am exchanging our leaky tank out for one that has less of an issue. Actual function is fantastic though, and makes showering, dishes, and spraying off the dog a whole lot easier after a day in the woods or just a night in your car!

Hairline crack in valve and leaking bottom

I previously gave this a great review because I really want this to work well. I've been using it for a month now a few times a week while living in my van. Shortly in the valve cracked so it acts more like a shower now, spraying water from the valve once I turn the pump on. Unfortunately they do not sell a replacement valve line, only the sponge so I am either going to return or super glue it together. I've also noticed the bottom of the device leaks water. Not much water to be a problem, but not something you wouldn't expect in a $300+ product. Again, if they could fix these problems, I would be giving this product 5 stars as I love the low water usage.
