Not waterproof

This coat is not waterproof. I just wore it for a 1/2 hour in a mild rain, no wind, hood up, and the water soaked through to my skin. I could feel wetness on the back of my neck. The problem areas were the shoulders and sleeves. This is not a raincoat. What an utter disappointment.

I’ve used this coat for a month. I live in WA state. It rains a lot. I’m outside a lot. I bought big bang blue in xs. It’s a beautiful navy/gray/purple-y color that’s in the same color scheme as almost ripe elderberries. I’m 5’4” 115lbs, usually wear a 0-2 for sizing reference of coat. The xs gives me plenty of room to wear a shearling-lined hoodie on cold days. I’ve worn this coat in 48F on its own with a thin turtleneck and been just fine temperature-wise. This coat is a practical length for getting enough coverage so I don’t wind up with soaked thighs or butt in rain. There’s tastefully executed elastic at the cuffs to keep drips out. Everything about this coat is tastefully done and practical. Sealed seams, keeps me dry in 2+ hour walks in rain and yet, I’m not roasting- First. Time. Ever. The pockets are roomy and zippers are at a flattering angle and start high so things won’t be slipping out of pockets. This coat is a flattering cut. Under the stylish appearance this coat is earning every single dollar in performance. I haven’t found a coat like this in about 7-10 years, and I’ve been looking. The mastery that is the hood is something I’ve never encountered. I have fine wavy hair so perhaps it takes up an average amount of most hoods. The hood on this coat is big, but doesn’t fly off my head because of its design and when zipped fully doesn’t brush or rub against my chin, even though there’s a zipper guard there just in case. It’s like I’m looking out through the porthole of a ship while rain is more likely to hit the brim of the hood than my face because it covers nicely out past my head enough to do this and not look weird in design. You want value, this is it. I don’t take 10 minutes to write a detailed review unless it’s an exceptional product on either end of the spectrum. I highly recommend.
