A fantastic member of my ski kit with some issues
I have never skied a pair of tele skis that turn as easily as these do, they are also light and pretty fast. As a tall (6'4") skier weighing 220 lbs I find that these skis fish scales are inadequate in many conditions on not very steep inclines due to the small size of the pocket. For comparison, my Asnes Nato waxable skis climb far better in most snow conditions. The mini skins are great in many conditions and make up for the above issue and I often use a mohair set in undulating terrain with good results. Perhaps due to the fish scales, the skins do not hold on the bases in steeper terrain in cold weather. I do recommend these boards as they are mostly very sweet.
fast and predictable
The combination of a rockered tip, and a stiff but low camber underfoot allows the ski to turn predictably in all conditions I have used it in (I put about 100 miles on mine last season), while the relatively short fishscales underfoot give decent grip most of the time. The flex of the ski is also stiff enough that the Ingstad provides better flotation in soft snow than many wider (but softer) skis. The X-Skin kicker skins provide more grip when more grip is needed.
perfect for me
Bought these primarily for traveling into our cabin in the mountains with a heavy pack. Was surprised to find they are fast due to the minimal amount of fish scale. Need more grip? Put on the super easy to use skin and you can go straight up anything and still glide due to the carefully engineered camber. And they turn well too.
