Hi! I left a review last week. After wearing for 24 hours, the XL pants stretched out so much that they were falling off! Couldn’t even take them climbing. I exchanged for a Medium today, way better—they’re more fitted which looks cute, and I know they’ll stretch plenty. Also my measurements were off — I’m 175 lbs, 31” waist, 44.5” hip. Grateful for REI’s return policy :) @prana pls sponsor me obvi I’m obsessed
Read the size chart, measured myself, purchased pants during the Labor Day sail. I sew clothes myself so I am good at measuring. These only cover half my butt. I do not have the juiciest caboose. It is nothing to write home about and yet, there is not enough of a rise on the rear curve to reach the top of my butt crack. I think these would suit someone shorter than I (5’10”). I have room in the waist and I can squat so I can vouch for the stretch factor. I got the clove color and it is a nice ruddy brown. Articulated knees, and very light weight. Would take up a space the size of a small burrito in a backpack.
I bought these for rock climbing and tested them out on a hike. The elastic waist band does not stay put in the back. If I didn’t have a backpack weighted there, I would’ve had to pull my pants up more than once while doing a 9 mile hike. When I squat the back of the pants slide down and reveal a waist gap. I’m not going to bother trying them out on a rock climb. I could not carry my phone in the side pocket as it continuously hit the back of my knee. The back pockets are useless for me as they don’t have a zipper. I am 5’5” 140 pounds. I bought a medium. The pants fit well everywhere else but the waist when I moved.
These have been the only “outdoors” type pants that have come close to fitting me and being comfortable. I’m 5’5” 150lb athletic build with bigger backside/thighs. I bought the L and M to try on because I have such a hard time with fitting pants. The L fit perfectly in the legs/butt but the waist is too big/too stretchy to stay up in more intense activity whereas the M are a bit snug in the legs/butt but the waist band fits perfectly and actually stays up. Still not sure which one to go with, have thought about keeping the L and adding my own drawstring. We’ll see. So overall, I love the fit of the pants, but the waist band situation is not really the best.
Love these pants! I don’t think I understood how uncomfortable most pants are until I put these on. Haven’t taken them climbing yet so I can’t attest to that, but I’ve been wearing them nonstop since I brought them home. I’m sure they’ll hold up great; my fiancé has had the mens version for the past 3 years and they’re still going strong. I’d say they fit true to size, but after 2 hours they stretch out quite a bit. I sized up to XL due to my unique measurements. I am 5’6, 175 lbs, 31.5 waist and 46 hips. The Large would have probably stretched out and been fine, but when I tried them on they were shorter in the crotch which felt restrictive, didn’t want to rip them doing any high lunges. Might ask my mother in law to alter them so they fit perfectly. I tried on like 8 pairs of climbing/hiking pants at REI, these were the best fit and most comfortable. So stoked to wear something besides leggings. ❤️
There are so many things I loved about these pants when they arrived- the fabric feel, the waistband, how they looked (way cooler than I actually am). I ordered a size L (I’m 5’8” 155-160 lbs) and they fit awesome. At first. Then my dog came up and wanted to play and after chasing/being chased up and down the hall a few times they started slipping down. I added phone/wallet and they slipped even more. I returned them and ordered a size M. But they’re WAY too tight in the thighs and butt. Extremely disappointing. Wish I could have the M waistband with the rest of the pants in a L.
I've been trying to find a pair of climbing pants for so long. I tore through a couple of legging that I really loved so I wanted a pair of dedicated pants. I'm on the petite side, with a size small waist and a size medium thigh/rear, and these were the first pair of pants that I tried on that actually fit me. I do wish they came in black though. The front side pocket is large enough for an iphone max with a case on it.
The other reviewer was spot on. I was hoping the pants would fit me differently and stay up. They are like the very early maternity pants. Super comfy. But they fall down as soon as I start walking. Debating whether to keep them as they are great comfy house day pants for Covid haha. But spendy for that. So close, Prana! Actually true to size also. I am size 10, 5’8”, usually order longs, not much of a waist, many pants have too short of rise, mom lower tummy, wide hips, skinny legs. mg advice to Prana is update this style with the same comfort and make the waist stay up. The rise could be a touch higher/taller also.
These have nice sturdy material to stand up to rough use, they have extra room in the legs which is key and the length is good for me at 5’ 6” and with a 31-32 inseam, they come down to about my ankles. The waistband is yoga style which is comfortable and easy peasy to keep up so far. If I drop some weight they will still fit likely as I need to. For reference I’m 145# and bought the Medium and they fit great, the pockets are deep so they are all around terrific pants for outdoor ladies. Bought a second pair on sale, and they are the same size and color and would you believe they are smaller? They still fit fine, but whoa on the quality control! For an high price point which they are worth, I’d expect more consistent following of the pattern. Odd.
These pants seem very comfy when you put them on. And they are. They're very breathable and comfy. The problem is that elastic waistband thing. There's no drawstring or anything, just that chunk of elastic. And it sits very high up on your waist. So whenever I do any kind of significant movement (like walking down stairs), the waistband rolls down and the pants start sliding down. If it wasn't for that, I'd love these pants, but it's such a big problem that I avoid wearing them entirely.
