As one who asked Prana to make the pants, I’m disappointed. The size guide suggested large (5’8” 150 lbs). These swim on me! Yet the waist barely stretches enough to clear my glutes. Also a flare leg in hiking pants?
These pants are awesome. I have larger quads and was hoping they wouldn’t be tight around them and they were fine! Instant slimming effect. The zip off/on of the legs is so simple. I can tell a lot of effort was put into the design!
I was really struggling to find a pair of hiking pants I liked. Most of the time I don’t like where they land on my waist, and I don’t like how tight they are on my thighs and butt. I’m so relieved to have found these because they solved both those issues. The price is worth what you’re paying for. I’ll definitely be getting another pair. I have a small waist but larger thighs and they were not too tight on my upper legs.
As a tall woman (5'11") I am absolutely stoked about these pants! It has been absolutely impossible for me to find tall length in convertible pants. These are absolutely PERFECT!!! If y'all shorten the inseam at all can you please please please keep these length as talls?! Just wore them for a 4 day 3 night backpacking trip. They're super comfy and held up well over the course of the 4 days. They also dry quickly, which is a huge bonus for being able to rinse them off over the course of the days! I immediately came home and bought another pair. Had tons of people ask me what pants they were. PLEASE DON'T GET RID OF THESE!!!!!
I’ve been looking for baggy pants for months now that can be shorts and these are literally almost perfect. It gives that “gorp core” look while being extremely comfy material and just as flattering as shorts. I can see how some people say they are too long but they are so cute when you use the bungee cords. My only complaint is that the waist band doesn’t stretch much so I kinda have to squeeze in but once in they are so comfy. I’m 5’4 135 pounds and got medium
I love the concept of these pants, and the overall look is nice. Not too rugged, and has a clean minimal look. I like that the zippers for each leg are a different color, so you can more quickly identify which goes on which leg. Where my gripes are are the proportions. I'm 5' 3", with a 31" waist & 41" butt... while the waist has elastic, I can squeeze in just fine but I'd personally like it to expand more without as much bunching as it does, because once on my waist, I have to tighten it quite a bit. Secondly, the legs themselves are so long. If not for the bungee cords, I'd be stepping on the cuffs constantly. And sometimes, I'd really like to not use the bungee cords...
Unfortunately prana just keeps missing the mark on designing women's pants. The pants run huge and very baggy, but the waist is tight. The width of one thigh is 12" across, at the knee 10.5" across, and the ankle 9.5". The stretch waist is so constricting, I have to loosen the belt all the way to be able to stretch and pull over my hip and bum, which barely fits because its so tight. I am a 30" natural waist and I tried on a size medium. The inseam on the shorts when you unzip the pant part is a 4" inseam, with a 11" rise. The fabric is soft and stretchy, but thick, much heavier than halle pants fabric, and the tiny Velcro patch on the back pockets just seem like they wont last. They just weren't for me unfortunately.
So wanted to like these pants but they are very oddly made. First, there is no zipper and although the pants fit me once I got them up, it was very, very hard to get them over my hips. I can't imagine how tough it would be if I needed to get them down urgently for a "technical break" in the woods. The pants are also very long (for perspective I'm 5'5") ... seems like a 32" inseam if not more, and they are very wide, almost balloon-y. The little cinch cords at the ankles don't help - they make them look like genie pants for me. Unfortunately had to return them.
I really like these pants. I am 5'8" and was SUPER surprised when they were actually the length I wanted/needed. I even loved the length of the shorts! My only gripe is that they are just the slightest bit tight where the zipper for the shorts are. I am a thick thigh lady. I also did have to squeeze my butt in, but once on they fit great. I bought these for an outdoor concert where its supposed to be about 89 when it starts and 58 when it ends. Figured the convertible pant would be perfect. We shall see how tight it is around my thighs while sitting.
These remind me of something from the 80s w their higher waist and just-a-bit-baggy legs. The zipper works like a dream and the length of the shorts is good—not too short as to be impractical for hiking. I have missed the Prana zip off capri/long combo pants that I wore on every vacation for at least 10 years. Look forward to trying these new ones out on my next vacation. The only downside is they aren’t quite as flattering with the bunch waistband, but honestly it’s a different look and I’m excited to try them out!
