Oh boy!!!!
I ordered mine around the beginning of April 2020 and received it several weeks later. However, unbeknownst to me (and I guess REI), mine was factory assembled on February 25th when the "trained" Thule tech neglected to install threaded parts that would allow this rack to be assembled. Lots of backing and forthing with Thule but it's mid-June and still no functional rack. Hey, I'm 70 and no longer buy green bananas so to have to wait this long for a decent rack that I can use is ridiculous....
Excellent rack, but not really suited for low cars
I decided to pick this up in the place of a 1uprack. My decision to do so was due to a lucky grab I was able to get from one of their stores as mine was a return. Overall I'm pleased with it, but if you get lucky and find something that was returned.. please remember to check all the bolts to make sure they're tightened as mine were loose. This rack is pretty easy to use and quick to load. It folds up and folds out. As for the flaws, it's quite low to the ground so if you're like me and drive something that isn't an SUV, it will likely catch on driveways occasionally. The included locking mechanism is fine, I would have preferred the arms to lock in place. It's a really thin loop that slides out of the rack and locks in a loop . It's only long enough to lock onto the rear triangle. Overall though like with other Thule products it feels premium and the finish looks great. Note that since this cannot fold up to be stored in your trunk, strangers (or friends) may be prone to sitting on it.. thinking it can support your weight. This only supports up to 60lbs. If you prefer the look of the Thule, I'd say go for it.
Great
Exactly what i wanted. Much lighter than my other hitch rack and easier to use. One great thing about it is the low profile. I can open and close my hatch with ease when racks not in use. The only complaint is the cable lock, i have a hard time latching it but not a deal breaker since i really never use it
Light weight for weaklings like me
The winter has been brutal here in Colorado so I’ve only used the bike rack once. However, I’m able to lift it and put it in the 2 inch hitch by myself and attach the bike. I am in my 70s so I don’t have a lot of strength left. But the bike rack was very sturdy and I didn’t feel nervous about the bike falling off. My only complaint is, I’m finding it really hard to get the bike out of upright stabilizers which go over and hold down the tires. If anyone knows of an easy way to do it, I’m all ears.
Easy to use
I bought this bike rack about a month ago and absolutely love it! It’s simple and easy to use, and I love how I can still open my vehicle hatch and access my car easily, with the rack attached. I’m looking forward to bringing my bike along with ease, when I go camping this summer.
Thule helium
I bought unit one month and have used it quite a bit the unit is very simple to assemble and use also easy to load and unload, also holds bike very firmly which is reassuring given distances I have been covering. I definitely highly recommend the product based on my experience.
