Excellent Dual Carabiner design for right use
The S-Biner SlideLock, in both aluminum and steel versions, is one my favorite NiteIze products. Any less than 5-star review is most likely the result of misapplication: aluminum is not as strong as steel, and a smaller size is not as strong as a larger size. The convenience is in the Dual Carabiner. One end stays attached to the anchor point--a belt loop, backpack strap, hook, etc. The other end holds the object you need to grab and use. The SlideLock gates allow for one or both carabiners to remain locked. I keep a couple of these attached to daypacks and backpacks ready for immediate use. Clip your light stuff so you don't lose anything!
secure lock
Assuming you don't lose the small plastic piece when opening, these carabiners are very secure. I like that they come in 3 different sizes and open on both ends. However, it can be tricky to attach it or take it off certain itmes without the black plastic holder falling off.
Great for car (dog) harness!
I purchased a seatbelt leash for my pup but the attached carabiner was super hard to use & often cut hubby’s fingers. I decided to try this instead & it’s been great! Super easy to open, close, & attach to her harness. I use the large one for this (since she’s 50#), but have attached the smaller ones to my motorcycle backpack. I’m sure that’s not its intended use, but that’s what I needed it for & it works great for my use!
Better choice for multiple keyrings
I found the (large) locking version is better than the non-locking version if you have 2 or 3 keyrings, since the non-locking version has a tendency to open itself when the keys twist around, opening the gate. In fact, I lost a set of car keys on Fourth of July at some point sitting or standing up from a folding camp chair. The slider stays locked yet is reasonably easy to quickly unlock. The lock slider sorts of stays in place when unlocked if you push it near the top (there's a tab to prevent it from sliding off by itself) although it can still move around a bit. Fortunately, the slider has never locked unintentionally. It a well-engineered little gadget. It's on and off my belt loop multiple times every single day, and is still working perfectly after almost 6 months. On top of that, the orange hides wear better than the regular black one I was using before.
Great idea to lock the carabiner, but....
The color & construction are great. The plastic band that locks the carabiner is a good idea. However, if you're not careful, it is likely to slide right off & get lost, as there's no tab to stop it from sliding off. So far, the fit is snug & the plastic band isn't too loose, but we'll see how it holds up over time.
Handy Little Tool that makes the world easier
First there was the carribeaner. You could just clamp your gear. Then there was S Clip, which provided 2 clips. These are the next evolution that allows you to lock the clip shut. These are very handy on backpacks especially. The #4 clip holds 75 pounds so they are pretty sturdy.
Not for me
I'm sure there is a great use for these, but in the time I had them, I didn't find one. Snags on items as most wire gates do, but with the added plastic lock slider, it was just so much worse imo. I much prefer the reg non-lock s-clips
Clips for all occasions
My favorite way to use these is when I'm traveling or hiking. It keeps my water bottle connected to my backpack so I don't lose it. I like being able to use both sides of the 'biner for this!
Easy way to keep track of keys
I used this carabiner to keep track of my keys on a trip thru Central America. I put it on a belt loop and locked it into place. It served its purpose.
Great s-biners
Great quality. Infinite uses. Nothing more to say. Buy them.
