I have had this tent for a few years and it has held up wonderfully, after being used ~6 weeks per year for the past two years, usually with a dog in tow. It’s a solid 3 season tent - but definitely feels chilly if the weather dips below freezing. I’ve never used a footprint or tarp beneath it - and have not had any problems in the rain with soggy tent bottoms. It comfortably sleeps 4 people, and feels like a tent palace for the two people + dog that I usually house in it . A little bulky for anything other than car camping.
Pros: easy setup, really sturdy Cons: Velcro on the top of rain cover messed up the tent vent Just had a weekend of camping where the weather turned bad. Sustained 20+ mph winds the first night and 10-15+ mph all the second day. The rainfly vent was popping in the wind, and wouldn’t stay secured. It “scratched” the tent top vent. Other than that, there was no issues. Overnight lows were about 40, and even with the wind, it was fairly comfortable with a good sleeping bag.
I have been using this tent for two trips a year into the Boundary Waters for several years and I really like it. When my nephew asked for a tent for Christmas, I quickly decided on this tent for him. I like that this tent has two doors and both have a covered area to keep your boots, etc. out of the weather. This tent is compact, durable and has withstood some serious winds. We usually put 2 or 3 big guys in it (never 4). After about "75 nights in" the BWCA with it, we have had no problems!!
My daughter just finished a night of camping in the mountains. Through the night the rain came down heavy. The kids were warm and dry with no problems of leaking. They were car camping so this tent worked great. The tent slept three people comfortably using Exped Mega-mat and Thermarest mondo king. Only problem was they forgot their shoes outside, they were soaked!
I went camping for the first time with this tent and was amazed at how easy it was to set up and take down. The windows have screens so that air can flow through the tent at night, which was perfect for our summer camp trip.
I can’t comment on durability oor weather resistance as I’ve not had it camping yet. It is roomy and easy to set up. I’m six feet tall, 210 pounds. Me my wife and two daschunds fit fine. Took less than 10 minutes to unpack and set up on my living room. It might be ok divided among 4 hikers, but I would not want to carry half of it more than s few yards. Based on my limited experience with it I am pleased.
We have used this tent 2 times in the last year. The first time was great but this last weekend we encountered much more rain than we anticipated. When we got back from a hike we looked at the floor of the tent and there were large puddles of water and the sleeping bags and pads were wet.
No way sleeps four and cannot stand up at all. The material is thin. Was essential to have heater in below 40 weather.
