Very comfortable shoes.
I had to order 4 pairs to get the right size since I had never worn Sidi cycle shoes before. Finally fitted correctly, I am very pleased with my purchase. I’m not really sure, but it seems that I have gained some power in my stroke due to the better fit. I also like the fact that there are replacement parts for these shoes.
stiff, comfy, tough
These are Sidi's top end cross country racing shoe. I rode them in the 90s, pros have raced them for decades, and the current models will last you tens of thousands of miles. The only knocks I'd mention are minor. The snap ratchet takes some getting used to, there's very little cushion under foot (race shoe, use an insole to fix if needed), and the tongue is stiff leather so takes a few hours to contour to your foot.
Sidis are some of the best cycling shoes made.
Sidi makes outstanding cycling shoes. Yes, if you buy their lower-end shoes, they might be made in neighboring Romania to keep cost down. Made in Romania will always get my vote over Made-in-China. With Sidi, you really need to try more than 1 size to see how their last fits your foot. They make a very broad range of road and mountain/cyclocross shoes of which REI carries 1 or 2.
Great shoe, but the ratchet...
The ratchet on one of the shoes was always pretty fussy. Then I scraped up against a rock and destroyed the ratchet buckle. So, got one season out of them and had to return. Shoes still had many years left, too bad.
