The Fox Union Flat MTB shoes deliver an impressive balance of durability, comfort, and fit. Following the sizing chart, I ordered a European 41 (corresponding to my usual US size 8), and the fit was precise. The shoes feel rugged and well-constructed, yet provide a level of comfort that exceeded expectations. In addition to performance, I was able to purchase the discontinued red/burgundy color at an excellent price, which made the value even stronger. Shoe fits well, is comfortable, and grips my Race Face Chester pedals VERY well. In spite of not being clipped into the pedals, I'm still able to get a decent upstroke pull on the pedals when climbing, engaging hamstrings and calves. Purchased at a GREAT price because I suspect that it's an unpopular reddish color. Who cares? After several rides, they're now a dirty reddish-brown color LOL

Looks: excellent. Good balance between stiffness for on-bike use and comfort for walking around off the bike. I haven't tested them in the properly hot weather yet, but the ventilation seems fine at least through spring. They do seem to run narrow: my feet are properly an 8.5 wide and I usually wear a size US 9/EU 42. I had to size up to an EU 43/US 10 for this pair.

Size chart is incorrect

Ordered size 45 EU (only option on REI web). Too small, so I returned. Size chart on REI web page says 45EU is 12US. Wrong - 45EU is 11.5US. The box also shows 11.5 US. Problem - the REI chart does not show US half sizes. Non-REI websites have the correct conversion. Lack of half-sizes US probably affects more sizes than my size. Other than sizing, this product matched its description. I bought online and returned at the store. Both transactions were easy.
