NOT SWIMWEAR
These shorts are cute and comfortable, but when I found them, in multiple sizes, on the clearance rack at REI, they were in swimwear. When I put them on at home to go out canoeing, the seam goes literally up my crotch. Very uncomfortable. So I have to wear them with some little shorts underneath, which is NOT what I wanted. I looked them up on the company website, and NOWHERE does it say these are swim trunks. I’m disappointed in REI, but they were 30 bucks and I can’t complain too much. It’s just irritating to find at the last minute that I bought the wrong thing.
High quality, light weight board short
Overall, very pleased with these shorts. I would say that the shorts run true to size- but, since they are "hip huggers (not at true waist), be sure to use hip measurement guide, not waist. I fell for the "runs small" reviews, but bought two sizes and was able to wear the smaller of the two (size 2). Next: the fabric is very light, as other reviewers have said. I like that, because I will wear on the beach and like the "quick dry". Very stretchy and light, might snag, but not overly worried about that. They are shorter than I imagined- not quite as long as "mid thigh", and are also wider than appears on model, for sure. I do have legs and thighs on the skinny side, but find these to be a bit wider than i would like. Wish they were straighter in the thigh. But, if you have more substantial thighs/butt, or like a looser short, you will be pleased. I would classify these shorts as a "board short", with quick-dry fabric, and shorted than the typical board short. Nice zippered back pocket. Coordinates with other Carve swimwear/rashguards, which is really why I chose these.
These are great!
I love these shorts! Some stretch and they dry quickly. Comfortable. I got size 6: 5’5” 123 lbs 27-28 in jeans. Tempted to buy another pair.
Size up, but great fabric
When I opened these I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth stretchy lightweight fabric. I was very excited to try these on. I typically wear a size 8 and have a curvy athletic build. (So if you have a smaller but and thighs these may work perfectly) These were very tight through the thighs and waist. I will be exchanging for a larger size.
Size 12 for a girl maybe
Tiny, tiny, tiny. I held them up for the associate when I returned them and she was shocked. Maybe this was an off pair. I’m usually between an 8 or a 10 and I couldn’t get these over my thighs.
Everyday wear for the lake
These swim shorts are the most comfortable board shorts, ever! They run a tad big. I usually wear a 6, but chose the 4.
Sizing is inconsistent
Not consistent with other Carve SZ 10 shorts, the hip circumfrence is small cannot close shorts
Very light weight
These are well made and a nice color, but too low in the waist and too wide in the leg to be flattering for me. They are also very light weight, which would be good for surfing but not so great for kayaking, etc.
Cute shorts
These appear to be a little shorter than they look in the picture - but I prefer it and LOVE them. They are so cute and a little flexible so they move with you during activities. I use them for paddle boarding and they are perfect. Quick drying and really stylish! I'm a size 6 and they fit very nicely even though I have a booty and muscular things. Thanks Carve Designs and REI! They came very quickly and I have worn them several times and am really happy.
Weird fit
This shorts have weird fit between legs. It would be better if they would make just a regular zip. Had to return
