Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ahhh They did an ad for this shoe where it was like "give your feet that lovely ahhh experience" or something like that. So true! Toe box is even wider than other Altra's, and the cushioning is just right/bouncy for my 5'7" 194lb islander build (keep in mind I don't use the insole; I typically don't in my shoes). And they are crazy light! Looking down on them on my feet took some adjusting to since the shape is so wide. But function over form, especially since there are so few shoes that fit my foot in a way I'm NOT spilling over either on the medial or lateral side. Each step during the run feels like it propels to the next. And working 8hr days on my feet on warehouse concrete...feet are not in pain. There's a reason this is one of this Brand's top selling shoe. I hope future iterations are just as good as this one, and that REI continues to carry this brand and this line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These actually fit your feet! I bought these on impulse because they were on sale and I was surprised to see a pair of running shoes with a toe-box shaped like an actual foot. I am delighted! The shoes are light and heavily cushioned and my toes--which have spread out over the years from lots of flip-flop wearing in the summer and hiking in Keen boots, which also have a wide and open toe box--my toes are very happy. I have even starting running for no reason from time to time just for the fun of it (and, nearing 70, I no longer run for exercise, trying to preserve my joints for hiking). The shoes do look a little "orthopedic" and the graphics printed on the tops are, to my taste, slightly embarrassing. I may use a Sharpie on them to black out the design. Or not. Most of the people I'd like to impress have already seen them as is. And heard about how great they feel!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for street / sidewalk running I usually run in merrell or vibram, but needed more cushion, these are zero drop/lift whatever, and cushion. fantastic feeling run.

I've heard these run smaller than previous generations. I already size up a 1/2 size from my normal shoe size for running shoes. Would these require going up another half size beyond that?

Asked by: Autocollectibles
The last the shoe is built on is the same as the previous version, but they have more overlays on the uppers. That makes it initially feel slightly more snug, but they will stretch out with use. It is still recommended to get a half-size up from your normal shoe size.
