Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great find! I feel very fortunate to stumble upon this jacket! I had originally scoped out the TNF Thermoball and Patagonia Nano Puff jackets because I wanted a warm, light-weight, easily compressible jacket that could be stuffed into my luggage without feeling like I over- or underpacked. However, I quickly realized this jacket provided all of the above characteristics AND had the better fit (active, form-fitting). It also allows for full range of motion and I really like the matte finish on the jacket. As a reference: 5'5", 135lbs, avid climber, fits perfectly!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Picture is misleading. The product is nice looking, stylish, and very comfortable. With that being said, the image on TNF shows the jacket looking thick and practically stuffed with goose down. When I received the jacket, I realized that was not the case. It's actually very thin and not up to handling temps 35 F and below. For me to stay warm, I wear a shirt, a sweatshirt, a hoodie, and then this jacket. I'm very disappointed with this purchase and if it wasn't such a hassle for me to return anything with my hectic schedule, this would have went back instantly. This was a gift and even the person who purchased it for me is disappointed with it as well. He described this jacket as a "windbreaker and nothing more."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfortable I wore this to Boston where it was snowing and sleeting and raining all in one week. This jacket withheld through all of the weather and did just fine. I got lots of compliments on it and it was really warm and comfortable. The hood came in handy as well, no need for me to hold an umbrella around. I plan to wear it to Iceland in a few weeks as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this jacket in every color This is really a great jacket. It keeps me warm in 40-50 degree windy weather. It's light and comfortable, and it's stylish and flattering. The only thing I would change is the poofiness of the sleeves, but it is a down jacket. I really love it, overall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I was very disappointed with the overall product Overall I was extremely disappointed with the jacket. I have Bren brand loyal up until this purchase. I am afraid with the price of this product and its quality I will no longer purchase north face products. The garment just feels cheap.

Which is warmer, the North Face Stretch Down Jacket, or the Patagonia Down Sweater Hoodie?

Asked by: Janelle A
These jackets are fairly equivalent when it comes to warmth. The Stretch Down has slightly larger baffles.

In the answer above to the question about which will keep you warmer this jacket or the patagonia down sweater jacket, it says they are fairly comparable. My question is about the 550 fill versus patagonia's 800 fill, does that make a big difference?

Asked by: ceasec
The fill power of the down relates to quality, hand feel, loft, and down cluster size. However the actual amount of the down, regardless of fill power rating, will impact a garments thermal quality. What this means is two jackets of differing fill powers can be equally thermally efficient, the lower fill power will just be heavier and not as compressible.

I am trying to find a basic warm winter jacket for everyday use. I live in Seattle, and I don't have a jacket that is warm enough for the weather here. It is usually in the mid 20's in the morning/ in the low 30's later. Would this jacket be good??

Asked by: abbystrong
This jacket will keep your upper body warm when temperatures plummet below freezing. Depending on how cold it gets you might have add more layers underneath.
