Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great underquilt I used this for a week in Glacier National Park with the Firebelly quilt. Temperatures went down into the mid 30s and I was comfortable without thermals. I have no complaints with the quality of this quilt. I think it should be said that it doesn't have anyway to attach the quilt to the Roo as advertised. I feel like the price is steep for only 750 fill. In this range you should have 900 fill goose. This thing in the stuff sack is about 9 or 10 liters in volume and can be compressed into about 6L. So the total for the two quilts is about 12L which isn't the best. Once you get the quilt set to your liking setup if fast about 45 seconds without rushing. My total setup time for my kammok system including the glider was 7mins and pickup time was about 10mins. I feel like that is awesome tear down time. I was able to use it to store a select light items in like a beanie light jacket. This wasn't perfect or identical to the way it was advertised. I feel like this is about $80-100 more than it should be, but considering guarantee, quality and performance and ease of use. I don't regret spending the extra money on it, just wish I didn't have to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing design and technology This product is deceiving, even when holding it in your hands, but executes its purpose without flaw. At first examination one may think $300+ for this? The material seems to be super-fragile and reminds me of tissue paper. It seems that more and/or heavier down could be utilized. However, once you place this cocoon around your hammock on a chilly night you will be amazed of the difference it makes. It is analogous to a nice down filled sleeping bag, but with the comfort of a hammock. I remember being amazed at feeling how the Koala maintained body heat and prevented the formidable under-carriage draft on cool nights. Until you actually try it, you wouldn't believe the difference this underquilt provides. I use the Koala mated with my Roo hammock. I then fully unzip my Marmot Sawtooth down-filled mummy sleeping bag and use it as a cover blanket. The sleeping bags foot box remains closed and acts as a pocket for your feet and keeps the overquilt from migrating off. The Koala has several adjusting features to curl the bag around you for a customized cocoon-like fit. It has elastic at each end to adhere to the Roo. There are four elastic bands that can be manipulated in several different ways utilizing each other or to the edge tabs on the Roo itself. You can manage to get yourself quite bundled up. I use small carabiners to attach the bands as needed. My only concern with the product is durability as I said it does seem very fragile. In any aspect Kammok built this product to perform and perform it does. Only more time will reveal its durability factor. As you have read I only have good things to say about the Koala and give it a 4/5 star rating as I continue to use it long term. It's a lot of money, but an amazing piece of cold weather gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply amazing I originally bought into this brand because of their "Glider" rain fly and how it would collect water. My thoughts were that could be quite a useful feature if I were ever using an outdoor sleeping system. This led to the Roo, which in turn led to the Dragonfly Net and Python straps as well.. It turns out in my neck of the woods that it gets so cold that you can forget sleeping in a hammock without some serious padding. I got tired of managing cold spots and decided to pony up for one of these. It works better than advertised. It kept me toasty in 15 degrees with an older army sleeping bag. It feels fragile, but seems to be a bit more durable than it appears. I'm not interested in finding out where that line is though. Because of this, I decided to spring for their sleeping bag as well. I am more and more impressed with each additional piece of gear I order from them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I couldn't be more satisfied I couldn't be more satisfied with the Koala and almost the entire line of products I've purchased from your brand. And the wonderful customer service of getting it repair/replaced through the assistance of Travis and his team could not have left me with a better experience. Thank you so much for everything you do. You will definitely be getting much more business from me, and all the people I convince to purchase from you. Until next time! Your Very Satisfied Customer, Zachery Scarmack

If used with an insulated sleeping g pad does it add extra heat or does it add a d heat because of pad?

Asked by: 4 labs
Your sleeping pad with this underquilt will work in tandem as two separate barriers of efficiency, to prevent your body heat from escaping your sleeping bag while in the hammock.
