Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for the rain, not for the cold I purchased this jacket for the wet weather we've been having in Northern California. I decided not to go with something down or heavily insulated so that I could wear it year-round. This bad boy has gotten me through some insane rain storms over the last few weeks. It's not the cutest or most interesting, but the adjustable sides give it a bit of shape. Unfortunately the lack of insulation means it is not even a little bit warm, and also not really wind-proof. On cooler days, I still need to wear a pretty heavy sweater underneath. If you're looking for rain protection, this is pretty perfect. I would probably check out other options once the weather gets below 60.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Curvy women, beware... lol I ordered this jacket since I'm a commuter and walk about a mile to work and back from the bus every day. it's the perfect lightweight jacket with the metro pass pocket I was looking for... my measurements 29 waist & 40 hips... so while the medium fit me perfectly up top -I can't sit in the jacket! I have to pull up the bottom or unzip it. I wanted a jacket that covered my bottom so that it would at least provide some more warmth during my morning commute... but not being able to sit in it cracked me up. it's okay though, i still love it. just be aware the bottom does not lend itself to "hippy" figures. lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holy Grail of jackets As a single mom, I have to research and save for my splurges and this jacket is worth every penny! It's stylish with a nice amount of extra length, which affords extra fabric when you sit and protection from wind and rain. I love the side buckles that allow you to cinch the waist if you would like, and the zipper pouch on the right arm above the wrist is perfect for a credit card and lipstick when running errands. I'm 5'10, 150 lbs and the large fits me perfectly; people stop me and ask me where I got this jacket. My dream is to save up and buy the navy, too; I hope they never stop making this coat! Home run for sure!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Jacket but too small I am a size 14/16 in pants and a 12 in blouses/sweaters etc. The extra large was very very snug in the hips. Even the sales person told me that NorthFace runs very small. Not sure if they only want skinny, athletic customers or .. It is too bad since their products are high quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So flattering I ordered this and a similar Patagonia rain jacket at the same time. While the Patagonia is maybe lighter weight, the color, fit, and function of the Tomales is so much better. I don't think I've ever had a raincoat that didn't make me look like a child or a crab fisherman--this one manages to be functional and stylish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish and functional I love the fit and style of this jacket! I was able to replace both my casual rain jacket and short work trench with this one great pick. The fabric and functionality are perfect for nasty weather, but without sacrificing style. I am 5'4" and petite and find the find really flattering.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cute, but serious snap issues When I first tried this jacket on (I bought through the website), one of the snaps popped through the lining. I sent it back and received a replacement, which did the same exact thing. I'm not rough on my clothes! This just seems to be a production issue. I bought an L, navy. Both were returned, as they were not usable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Versatile Jacket I'm very pleased with this jacket. By choice we travel light. It is challenging to find easy-care clothing appropriate for a wide variety of situations. This jacket fills the bill for me. I bought it one size up from my normal so I could use it over a fleece layer (5'5", 130 lb, I bought a large). The side belts work well to adjust the fit for layers or no layers. The jacket was fine for hiking. It kept me dry during a few periods of prolonged rain; it rolled up small & lightweight to be stowed in the daypack when not needed. I bought it in black & was equally comfortable using it for dress-up occasions during city visits. I wish more clothing manufacturers would offer products like this one. I will cheerfully spend more if I can buy one well-made, easy-care, multi-purpose item in place of multiple items that are less versatile.

Does this fit true to size?  Can I wear light weight fleece under it?

Asked by: suecebulko
I ordered a small and am thinking I will have to go back for a medium.  I a 5' 6" and about 125 lbs. It would fit good with just a t-shirt but with a fleece it is a bit snug.   I want a raincoat to fit over sweaters and such,  so I'll have to get the medium.
