Kuat Transfer 3-Bike Hitch Rack
The rack came configured to be mount in a 2" hitch. Needed some help removing a screw to mount the Rack in a smaller hitch. That was a minor inconvenience. Very happy now. Putting the bikes up, taking them down is a snap. And on top of everything, the bikes do not scratch each other.
Good solid rack that won't break the bank
Assembly was a pain but is fairly straightforward. Definitely read the instructions. The rack is not too heavy and carried three 30+pound mountain bikes hundreds of miles with no problems. The optional locking kit only comes with two locks so you'll have to buy two kits and you won't have all locks on the same key. The locking kit is really to discourage casual theft; if a bike thief wants your bike they could cut the cables in seconds. For longer periods of time it's better to use a heavy chain. Getting bikes in and out is fast and easy and the flip up/down mechanism works well.
Perfect Bike Rack
I’ve had the Kuat Transfer 2 for three years now, and I absolutely love it! It’s mounted on a Highlander Hybrid, 2” hitch. It is extremely easy to load our two mountain bikes on, the lift height to load is lower than hook type racks. I grip the handlebar riser and the seat tube to lift, front wheel goes in front cradle, rear in back tire cradle, let go of riser, raise front tire holddown, hook up quick release strap holding rear wheel steady, longer to write than to do. The drop down mechanism for accessing tailgate works great. They recommend not lowering the drop down while bikes are loaded, but of course I had to try, carefully. Worked with two bikes, if you are careful. We use our bikes often enough I leave the rack on spring through fall, it is easy enough to access tailgate that it is not annoying having it on with no bikes on it. Can’t recommend enough, perfect for me. I added some tape at top of posts (folded up position) to avoid possibility of rain seeping past post end plugs.
convenient but seems to be poor quality
Took me about an hour to assemble this - couple of portions are confusing but nothing major. once installed, this is easy to use. For my carbon bike, this is the way to go. After 2 weeks, though, i noticed a lot of sway- turned out the locking pin had got terribly use. I tightened it, but am not hopeful that it will stay. If it happens again, i'm returning it.
Love it
Easy to use - quick on and off makes transporting bikes much easier than our old rack.
So easy
I wasn’t sure at first but when I loaded my three bikes for the first time, I was sold. Super easy to load and unload.. quick too. Have fun!
Cool rack!
Great for the price! Easy to put together. May be a little heavy.
Unyieldingly big and heavy
Very heavy due to beefy piping construction. Well made.
