Rated 4 out of 5 by from BioLite NanoGrid system I go nuts over a good lighting product ! This is (so far) a fine , solid product. After putting this BioLite through the"Daddy Test"by full charges/discharges , i purchased the set of two extra lamps. Day after day of four hour , four lamp workouts did not diminish its usefulness ! Quick charging times are a surprise and the system can (and has) be configured in a myriad of ways. Like others , my only complaint is the rubber weather cover over the socket is poor fitting . One desire would be a fitted storage pouch for the main system and accessories. As of now they travel in retired boot socks ! I am a 4X4 camper. I OWN OVER 370 VINTAGE BATTERY LAMPS(yes , i know :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coolest lighting / charging product ever I took the BioLite NanoGrid on a skiing trip this past week and it was awesome. The lantern kept our cabin lit at night, emitting a beautiful, bright glowing light. We plugged in and strung up four SiteLights around the cabin, which perfectly lit up different sections. The NanoGrid also kept my iPhone & GoPro charged for several days of use. And the flashlight is insanely powerful and super useful for nighttime walks. What can't this product do? BioLite combines great features with an awesome design aesthetic, and this is a great complement to the CampStove and the rest of the product line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome BioLite NanoGrid enhanced my experience BioLite has always been a favorite of mine between their incredible, reliable, innovative products and their awesome ethos. They’ve continued to excite me with their new NanoGrid. A new charging and lighting system, it includes two separate components (1) the PowerLight—a three-in-one rechargeable battery, lantern, and flashlight, and (2) two SiteLights. I love its pocket size (and light weight), the light is bright, but atmospheric (easy to be around and important to me while out in the wilderness), and it was so great to charge my phone so I could capture the special moments. So cook some dinner under the lights and snap a few photos by your fire while roasting marshmallows! BioLite has done it again!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wonderful Lighting, Terrible Durability. The concept and the features on this product are amazing. I can't recommend this product enough but only to those who plan to use this item with extreme care. I don't know if my product was defaulted, but it stopped working after only 2 hours of use on the first outing, less than 48 hours after un boxing. I ordered a replacement in high hopes and we will see if this review will be changed to 5 stars. The additional lights dont hold together very well and constantly seperate so hold both of them firmly or you might drop one of the lights while holding onto the other. The products rubber ports are all super weak and prone to disfiguring, staying open to allow moisture and other things to get inside. I wrapped a rubber band around the rubber to hold it in place. I bought this to replace my goalzero lighthouse 250 and the biolite beats it by a mile even when broken.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wonderful features, poor quality I got mine (directly) almost as soon as it came out and I love all the things it does. It's not too heavy for a flashlight and the satellite lights are terrific for spreading out the light for cooking or hanging around the tent. BUT I've had 3 of these die on me, always replaced by the company with no hassle (because I bought direct). They're great but this thing is really flimsy. The last time it stopped working I'd had it in my coat pocket that I was wearing, so it's not like I treated it badly. They fixed the previous design flaw with the flap covering the USB port by sending out a new cover with easy instructions. I think they're a great company and the other things I've gotten from them have worked great. But this lantern is a delicate flower!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Daisy chains, where have you been all my life? The whole NanoGrid is pretty awesome, but the sitelights are my new obsession. They're crazy lightweight and I love that I can toss them into my bag without worrying about hurting them bc they snap together into a cool little orb, literally the size of an orange. I hung them around some tree branches and was good to go -- the little clips help the cords from slipping which is a nice touch. I really like that I can set up nice lighting and move around without the lighting changing suddenly (my friends and I are always stealing the lantern away or walking away with a headlamp attached to our forehead- the SiteLights stay put which is great). Also I didn't realize this until I watched a BioLite video on YouTube but the PowerLight can DIM the SiteLights if you press and hold the button all the way to the right - I'm really happy about that because my eyes tend to adjust when I'm outside at night and I don't want to waste my battery using light I don't need. All in all this is my new light and battery pack which is a pretty good when you add up what all my old stuff cost.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Manufacture defect. The rubber sitelight hub cover will not stay closed which leaves the input for the sitelights exposed to any moisture. I immediately returned it and I bought a second one to see if I just got a defective one and the second one did the same. This is a major flaw because water can into it. With two attempts, I assume all are like that. Another REI reviewer had the same problem. That's at least four units with the same problem. Also, it weighs a lot. I think a light weight head light and a battery charger will be lighter than this product. There are other light weight alternatives to achieve the objective of lighting and battery charger. It's nice looking if you like gadgets instead of pure practicality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many varied uses - not just for camping Right now a colleague and I are sitting in our teacher's workroom under the glow of the NanoGrid instead of the harsh fluorescent lights. Everyone who walks in and sees them wants to buy their own. Have used them while hanging in a hammock and grilling outside. Even charges my smartphone. Perfect design! One of my favorite gadgets.

Can the device be charged from a car cigarette lighter? If so, what accessory equipment does that require? Can it be charged from a Goal Zero solar power collector?

Asked by: Peter on the Trail
Yes, you can charge the NanoGrid LED Lantern and Portable USB Charger via your car's cigarette lighter. The REI 2-in-1 Home and Car USB Charger would be a good add-on. You can also charge the lanterns with Goal Zero products. The Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus Adventure Kit Solar Charger would be a good choice.

What type is the integrated lithium battery? Is it user-replacable with an off-the-shelf battery such as the 18650? Thanks.

Asked by: Toby
According to the manufacturer, the battery is a 4400 mAh lithium-ion and is not user replaceable. For further information, please contact the BioLite directly.
