Rated 3 out of 5 by from Allow Extra Room I like some of the product's features, particularly the ankle closures (zipper, elastic, velcro), but the waist seemed somewhat drab. The gripper on the back of the waist looks to me like a weak spot (looks like underwear waistband). I ordered the same size (M) I normally wear, but found after trying them on (alas, at home, not at a store) that there would be no room under them for pants; so much for the loose fit! Even without pants underneath, they were pretty snug and were inadequate to use in a seated position. If I can get the next size up at the same sale price, hopefully the larger size will work better (and allow me to improve my review), but my normal size didn't work for me, so you may need to allow extra room.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just plain awful I purchased in August 2016 while in a rush before travel. For reference, I've purchased many Novara products and never had a problem with fit. However, the fit, when on the bike, was awful...a low crotch required me to constantly pull up the leg, which left my ankles exposed. Further, they have a terrible waist draw string that only goes half way around and makes it impossible to tighten properly. They were constantly falling down. While the fit was awful, the material proved waterproof in torrential rain and driving wind.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for transportation cycling The legs on these are quite close fitting which would be fine if you're wearing them over "cycling clothes", but if you're in regular street clothes like jeans they're pretty snug. The zippers at the cuffs don't allow the pants to be pulled on over anything more than very low profile shoes. Small sneakers might work, but boots or sturdy shoes are impossible. They seem well made otherwise, but don't suit my style of riding. I recommend trying these on before you buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Staying Dry! These bike pants fit the bill for living in a rainy climate and they are my constant companion in Amsterdam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, well built, fits great My first experience with Novara Clothing. I bought a pair (won't name brand) that were twice as expensive but did not fit right so I returned them to REI got these and are very happy. Size chart put me at a large but size up if you want to wear clothing underneath "which a commuting pant should do". I'm 6'1" 190lbs and I have a slight gut but give me a break, I live in a craft beer town!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kept me dry I wore these over Novaro biking shorts the entire first day 35 mile ride of a recent C & O Canal Towpath trip. The trail was extremely wet and muddy. Mist was in the air the few times it wasn't raining. The temperature never went above 58. These Bike Pants kept me warm and dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable pants I like these pants they are dry and shed water well. The size chart had me at Medium but they were too restrictive so I went up a size, much better. The exchange was quick, within 3 days. Now I need some shoe liners.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Keep looking First time putting them on, the draw string ripped out. After repairing them and putting them on, notice the draw string clasp won't hold tight. I am not impressed with them for the $100 price tag.

Are these pants reinforced in the seat? My current hiking rain pants now have two big wear spots in the internal waterproofing layer after a year of using them for biking in the rain.

Asked by: gsands
These pants are not reinforced in the seat, however they are designed to last.
