Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hiking shoes ever I have been wearing North Face Running and or hiking shoes for many years. I use to wear Nike but then they changed the make of the shoe and the fit was not what I needed so then I changed to New Balance, which I love too, but for serious hiking all weather shoes North Face wins hands down. Also to add an important note, I have had a total left hip replacement and knee surgery so I need a shoe that has great support -North Face You Deliver both plus one cannot beat the gortex for an all weather shoe-North Face Products are well worth the Price!! Thank you

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not recommend I bought these in April for day hiking and weekend backpack trips up in Tahoe and Yosemite. I used them all summer and found them to be just as uncomfortable at the end of the summer as at the beginning. 1. The tongue seam presses down on the top of the foot so much so that it felt bruised after a long weekend. 2. The toe box was cramped. 3. The tread was not sturdy enough to prevent sliding when standing on a slight incline. 4. They did not provide good support so the bottoms of my feet hurt every weekend no matter what distance I had hiked.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from "Fastpack" means less rigid I love TNF's Hedgehogs and after finding the last version at a clearance retailer I was worried they were going away. So when I saw these at REI I jumped on them without doing my research. I figured "Hedgehog" still meant "Hiking Shoe" as it had in the past. These have the familiar sizing of TNF shoes. They have the Vibram sole and traction. But they are not as rigid as a hiking boot, unlike the old "Hedgehog". This is where "Fastpack" comes in. I can twist this shoe 90 degrees from heel to toe. With the old shoe it's about 30 degrees. I can bend this shoe past 90 degrees through the ball of the foot and there's a zone of about 2 inches around the ball which flexes. In the old shoes this was about 60 degrees of bend. The upshot is that on my usual rocky trail I felt a lot more rocks. My feet got tired faster. TNF does make a heavier Women's Hedgehog -- the one without "Fastpack" in the name -- but REI doesn't carry it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Started Tearing on Day Two I bought these shoes before hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail this summer. The comfort of the shoe was okay (I also had Superfeet insoles installed) but I was disappointed when they started coming apart on the second day of my hike (only 20 miles in). The rubber toe piece became unattached and the inside of both shoes (where the shoe meets the ankle) was beginning to tear. These two issues are only cosmetic at this point but shouldn't be occurring merely two days into a hike. I will be returning them to REI.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hiking shoe for national parks! I bought this shoe for a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton, and it was perfect. The size is true. They are definitely waterproof. The weather was as cold as 25 degrees, and they did fine. Not a lot of off-trail hiking, but when there was, these held nicely without slipping on downhill stretches. They were very comfortable right out of the box on their own, but I need an orthotic, and was pleased that the shoe accommodated that easily. I realize color is not important to function, but this is a nice neutral color that goes with a lot of outdoor wear, and my new Farm to Foot socks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hiking shoe for those who need a wide toe box. I have searched for years for a comfortable hiking shoe. My feet are wide in front but I have a narrow heel. I ordered these a size larger than normal because I tend to bump the end of a shoe with my big toe when I hike, causing toe pain. This is my 2nd pair of these shoes. I love the fact that they are water proof. They keep my feet nice and dry and they still look stylish with a pair of cords. I have major foot pain issues and on advice of my doctor, I did enhance these shoes stability and support with good orthotics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these hiking shoes! I have a closet full of North Face apparel but for the first time last year I purchased a pair of hiking shoes. I love them! I bought a half size too big as it's hard to find my size (5.5) in most retail stores. I wore them year round and as time went by I had to add a little thicker sock. I then started shopping online for my actual size, and found on the North Face website my size in almost all their shoes. I purchased this pair and have not been disappointed. I live on the Oregon coast and they are perfect in our wet environment. I would highly recommend them to anyone! Comfy, waterproof, and durable. Pretty excited to know I can shop on the North Face website and find my size!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great everyday hiking shoes I wear these shoes everyday to walk my dog in the park and through trails that are often very wet. The shoes are lightweight and my feet don't overheat despite the summer hot/humid weather. These shoes keep my feet dry and cool and have good traction for the trails.

I have a hard time keeping a shoelace in this shoe.  They all break on the top hole.  I tried every lace I could find (they all broke) and finally put in a strong thick coiled elastic lace (so far so good).  I like the lace that comes with the shoe.
