not bad
I've had the jacket for several years. It's definitely not my go-to coat if I know I'm going to get wet (snow/sleet). It seems like it would be good for cold and dry weather, but not a typical midwest winter. I'm not really pleased with how the down has collected in some places and left others. I've been very good to this jacket with regard to care, but it seems to have developed some cold spots, specifically the arm pits and chest. I love the fit of the arms and belly, though- it's nice and long in the arms and not at all boxy at the bottom. It does pack up really nicely. That being said, the collar is designed for a pencil neck.
Keeps me warm, looks nice
I went into REI with the expectation of buying a similar jacket from another well-known brand, but after a side-by-side comparison I opted for the Zeus. For the same price it had a higher down rating, weighed no more and stuffed just as well. Minor point: I liked the blue color of the Zeus better than what others offered. After a month of casual use, I'm highly satisfied with this jacket. It fits well, keeps me warm on chilly days (even down in the 20's), and stuffs nicely in my photo backpack when not needed. I also like the large size pockets, and the hem drawcord was a must in my selection. I do wish the jacket had a chest pocket for phone or sunglasses. Then it would be just about perfect.
Great product for its role
This jacket is great, but it's important to understand down jackets before purchasing one. This model is a sweater or mid-layer with 700 fill. This means its meant for cool fall days on its own, but is designed to be a mid layer under a weatherproof shell in the winter. This will cut the wind and protect the down from moisture. This jacket is not intended or built to be a stand alone winter coat. Being down, fit is also important; it is meant to be worn close to the body. I'm 5'11 180 pounds. A medium fits properly. To touch on a couple of other reviews, one mentioned an issue with inconsistent fit; highly unusual for Marmot, so I wouldn't worry about that. Another stated it was a 600 fill; its actually 700 fill. This is an extremely high-quality jacket, but most people don't wear down correctly and it creates disappointed buyers.
Toasty...
I'm 5'11 190 lbs and broad shouldered. It was either this or the Patagonia, I tried the REI down but it was lacking a hemcord. For the price I decided on the Marmot (large/steel) due to the fit, looks and hemcord so cold air doesn't get in. I already own a Patagonia down vest, I wanted something different. There's enough room for a sweater underneath and not too roomy with a simple Tee. It's 700 fill, enough to keep you warm and in my opinion an excellent all around down jacket ( too thick for a sweater). With REI's satisfaction policy it's a no-brainer.
Great for Backpacking
Bought a Zeus jacket in 2009 for a backpacking trip into the Grand Canyon, it has now been on many outings since then. I very seldom wear this jacket except when backpacking or hiking in colder weather, its left pocket is used as a compression sack for storage so it packs well and protects it from damage, and it can also double as a pillow while sleeping in back country. It is very lightweight leading to its thin outer shell; therefore I do not hike with it on but simply use it as rest stops or at camp for warmth. It is very warm for such a lightweight jacket, my parents who live in a cold climate and are in their 70's wear them daily in the winter because of this. Great product for what it was intended for. Just bought a Jena (similar product) for my fiancé for a winter backpacking excursion and I'm sure she'll be happy with it.
Lightweight Comfort
Have worn this a few times now - it is extremely comfortable - weighing less than a pound, I hardly notice it at all. I'm 5'10"/ 175lbs, and the medium was perfect, not baggy, sleeves long enough for my longish arms. The temps I've worn it in have been high 30's, with only a light flannel shirt as a base, and without wind it did a great job keeping me warm. With a light wind (say 5-7 mph) I could feel the wind slightly but not enough to make me cold - but enough to see that if the wind picked up much I would definitely need to wear an outer wind jacket. However with light weight comes sacrifices - the jacket's outer material is fairly thin - if you plan on hiking in an area where there are thorny/spiky plants I would strongly advise wearing a tougher outer shell over the top. Also the zippers appear to be plastic (though they work fine so far) and there is an inner flap behind the main zipper but not in front of it, so no buttons/snaps or any good way to hold it together should the zipper fail. But these are concessions most lightweight down "sweaters" make. Incidentally, if you are torn between the "Marmot Zeus" ($140 on sale) and the "Patagonia Down Sweater"(($170 on sale) I compared them side by side, because I was curious how the Patagonia could have 800 fill instead of the Zeus 700 fill, and still manage to weigh an ounce less than the Zeus. Seen side by side the answer is simple, the Patagonia is just a bit thinner. Otherwise, in quality and looks they appeared almost identical. I actually preferred the Zeus, especially for less $$. I would imagine there may be some longevity issues, due to the thin material and plastic zippers, and of course I can't speak to that yet, but it looks well made enough so that with the proper care it looks as though it will last quite a while, so I consider the sale price as a good deal.
Shell material does not wear
I bought the Marmot Zeus jacket (and followed with the vest) as I wanted "tough" light-weight down insulated outerwear. After the equivalent of little to moderate use, my jacket has developed wear holes adjacent to and all along the full length of the inseam of both arms. I first noticed this because of an unusual amount of down loss. I have used the jacket mostly for winter trekking and not for winter sports. The outer areas of the jacket are in good shape so I am astonished to see the wear along the arm inseams. I intend to return these products as the Marmot brand, in my opinion, is not worth considering at all.
Just the ticket
I've used other down and synthetic filled jackets but the Marmot Zeus has become my preferred outer layer for flying. It also looks sharp for just kicking around town. The Zeus insulates well with only a t-shirt as a base layer and have never had issues with cold spots, even on prolonged chilly flights. It compresses well when stuffed in the harness and the 1.2 oz/yd DWR shell strikes a good balance between weight and durability. I'm 6'0" 175lbs and the size medium fits great.

Just right!
I purchased these as replacement for a similar jacket that I damaged while at work. I like the somewhat more substantial fabric and "just right" fit and fill of this jacket. Will have to see how the 700 fill compares long term to the 800 fill of the previous jacket. I am in and out of the office, and these jackets are my go-to choice nearly all winter for normal out of office excursions. Loved the green color but thought the black a bit more appropriate for semi professional settings so ordered one of each. Only one minor wish - that the "Marmot" name on the front was a bit more understated (smaller)

Zeus leaks feathers
I purchased a Zeus jacket and within 30 days the down feathers leaked badly (see attached pic of my car seat with feathers). I hope Marmot fixes this issue on an otherwise ok jacket.
