Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best trainer ive used to date I bought this trainer as I wanted something that would control resistance and allow me to focus on pushing myself to maintain power output. This trainer more than delivers. Its already making me workout harder than i even thought possible. Im currently using it with trainer road but might give the cycleops virtual trainer software a try just to give myself something to compare it against. The trainer itself if well built and very very easy to set up. Its very stable and once im on there working hard Im confident that i will be punished suitably :) Buy this if you want the best possible workouts and not waste time burning up junk miles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent trainer with great customer support I bought this trainer several years ago and have nothing but good things to say about it. The first resistance unit was replaced by Cycleops for no change and have had no issues with the actual unit since. Between my wife and I, this trainer has well over 15,000 miles since 2009 or 2010. I have used the Tacx Fortius and Elite Real Axiom in the past and there is no comparison with this trainer...those things are so buggy and junky. The Virtual Training on this trainer seems better than when first released...still not without issues, however, in terms of the trainer is great and I would not hesitate to purchase again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great way to train indoors! Have owned the Powerbeam for about one year and couldn't be happier. Gives you lots of options, like training based on HR, power, specified programmed workouts, or about a thousand different courses. My favorites are to ride a flat course (like Ironman Canada) and put on a training DVD (like Spinervals) and do intervals that way. Alternatively, for the long Saturday morning rides, I program in the watts and the duration and voila! The only caution is to watch out when you train by HR. It immediately tries to get you in the HR zone, which means very very high resistance until your HR increases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best season preparation tool ever! I've used several VR trainers, and this one is the best! The ability to load race courses, combined with interesting courses from riders around the world set this unit apart. The streamlined footprint makes it easy to use.The integration with Google earth is seamless. The experience is one of the most realistic and road-like I have experienced. My preparation for race season was outstanding, with my results bearing that out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best training tool In addition to a power meter this is one of the best tools to hone in your fitness. This allows me to design very specific workouts and focus on power numbers during the off season. This is also great because you can program a workout and then just turn your brain off, no staring at the garmin hoping to stay at the right power level. The trainer can be synced with several apps that provide different features. I have used a Kickr and computrainer and this in my opinion is the best value on the market. The only complaint is that it could be heavier for high watt efforts and the flywheel could also be a bit heavier to give it a more realistic feel. That in fact would be a nice option to be able to add a heavy flywheel for the more powerful riders.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Trainer I have owned the powerbeam pro for over a year and I am very happy with it. The virtual training was okay and I used that for the first 6 months but did not decide to pay for the service when they changed it. The trainer itself is good for setting up and performing structured intervals of your choosing at a desired power level. For the last year I have been using the trainer with S ufferfest videos and Trainer Road workouts and it provides a great workout that is much easier to get into mentally than the normal gerbil-wheel torture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from durable, reliable & FUN! I have the first generation PowerBeam Pro, which I bought about 5 year ago. I'm giving it five stars, one for each year of enjoyment. Everything works well. It is very durable, reliable and fun. Unlike many of today's electronics, it didn't become obsolete when the next model came out. Instead, this trainer advanced as the peripherals advanced. Now, it is capable of doing more than I had imagined when I first purchased it. Now, It is capable of virtual training via desktop, tablet or smart phone! On the technical side, the power data is very accurate when compared to my Powertap hub and Quarq cranks. The only drawback that I can think of is the tire slippage on low cadence/high torque scenarios. Yes, I would definitely recommend this product to friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing winter workout machine The power beam pro trainer is amazing. Easy and intuitive to use, quick to set up and take down. I have absolutely no complaints about this trainer. I was skeptical about trying a powerbeam trainer after using a fluid trainer for the past 6 years, but the change has absolutely been worth it. It takes 30 seconds longer to set up from the computer side of the equation, but the versatility in my workout has made it more than worthwhile. I have, for the first time on a trainer in over 7 years, managed to fit in 200+ miles into my week. And the virtual training component is amazing. I've taken my favorite rides and made them into spinning workouts. The google maps follows course with pointpoint accuracy and as far as I'm concerned, this is the best purchase I've made all year.
