Features

  • Adjust your bike position to mimic real roads and mountain climbing, so you'll change shift your own position, strengthen climbing muscles and improve pedaling technique
  • Quickly raise or lower your fork to match ascents of up to 20% and descents of -10% (exact grade changes depend on bike size, wheel size and trainer type)
  • Use the remote to quickly and directly pair it to your KICKR or KICKR SNAP; remote attaches to your handlebars so you can adjust the grade with a simple press of a button
  • Connect to the most popular online training platforms, such as Zwift and TrainerRoad, to create a truly immersive ride experience
  • Unlock Mode allows the CLIMB to react to grade changes from an external source (e.g., Zwift, TrainerRoad, some Wahoo bike computers); Lock Mode responds only to the remote
  • Connect a Wahoo Fitness ELEMNT or ELEMNT BOLT to relive the ascents and descents from your favorite rides or routes while training indoors
  • KICKR CLIMB works with 2017-edition Wahoo KICKR SNAP (WFBKTR3) and KICKR (WFBKTR117) trainers
  • Supports standard quick-release hubs and 12x100, 15x100, and 15x110 thru-axle hubs

Definitely increases suspension of disbelief!
Some background: recently purchased a Wahoo Kickr Core with my 20% member's coupon. Was getting a little frustrated as had connectivity issues with the unit until a friend sorted me out. Fast forward to today where I went to my local REI's garage sale and there was a Kckr Climb (which I wanted) at a great price. Thinking the person may have had connectivity issues like me but didn't have a friend to help pull him through, so they just returned it as not working. I took a chance on the unit. The box lacked instructions but many YouTube videos helped to get this setup within 15 minutes or less. That included pairing with my Kickr Core which went without a hitch. A few minutes later, I did a route on Watopia which was about 20 miles and 2,000+ feet of climbing. The Kickr Climb worked as advertised, including on the descents (I think ~ -4% max as advertised). What I really liked is that the Climb made me use the muscles I normally use when I do ride outside. The response was fairly snappy (though not instantaneous with the video, but no biggie) and the unit was quiet (except for 1 segment where the ascent ramped up really quickly). I have to check calibration to ensure I got the size right, but that's on me, not the unit or the firmware. I was on the fence getting the unit as I've read reviews that said it's really not needed. And I think they are right, it's not. But the Climb absolutely helps with the suspension of disbelief that you are indoors on a trainer. And now that I've tried it, I wouldn't want to Zwift without it! My Watopia route was just under 1.5 hours, that's twice as long as I've ever been on a trainer before. Too me, the Kickr Core/Kickr Climb/Zwift combination is a great combination that will definitely help me when I can't go outside and keep me in peak condition. Today was only first ride, I'll update if anything changes, but off to a great start so far!

Does not work in Zwift workout mode
This device does not work in Zwift's workout mode. Essentially becomes a $600 brick if you like doing interval workouts.

Amazing idea with bad quality control!

It was an utter enjoyment for 2 weeks!!! Then after my Summer vacation I get back to it and found out that it started malfunctioning: simply did not lift the front fork up under load - some helpless clicks from inside, indicating that it was intended to work, but could not. With no load it could lift it up, but absolutely incorrectly, not following the Program. It does a great job, when it works properly, the satisfaction can't even be described at that time as well as the disappointment when it fails that way. Exchanged it. So far works great. I recommended it to my friends before that failure and am very careful about that now, testing the replacement unit.

Attack The Climbs!

I was a bit skeptical getting this at first. After using it for a month now I can say I have no regrets. I wasn’t blown away like when switching from a dumb to smart trainer but it’s a nice improvement to my overall indoor training experience. It definitely encourages you to get out of the saddle more often & for longer durations, and that’s exactly what I wanted - to make me a better climber & help alleviate numbness and saddle sores. For the people complaining about delayed response to grade changes, they don’t understand that you must change your TRAINER DIFFICULTY TO 100% (Zwift default is 50%). Only then will you enjoy instantaneous changes, and the fun of rolling hills & painfully long climbs.

Great until it failed

I really like the Climb. It's a hugely unnecessary addition, but really nice for those who have the expendable income. I even prefer its feel to a front wheel when broken. BUT - the lift system did fail. 5 stars to REI for taking it back. I am contemplating whether to get another, but I have no doubt that it will also, eventually, fail.

Great, until it wasn't.

I purchased the Kickr CLIMB in Nov. 2021. When it worked, it added a nice road "feel" to my Zwift rides, making them slightly less boring in winter. Then, the CLIMB stopped working in winter 2022. There was no raise or lower during rides, even though unit powered up and appeared to be communicating with my laptop. I have an email in to Wahoo customer support, to see if anything can be done. If not, oh well. I will not be buying a Wahoo product again, and I have a nice $600 door stop.

motor broke after 1 year...

Adds to the realism of the indoor bike experience. The remote is wired and there is room for improvement in other parts. However the motor broke and now it is just a giant paper weight... Will post following customer service response...

Works those upper thighs just like climbing

Again another "splurge" but after its hooked up you realize it has to be part of the work out package. Its great. moves to some very high degrees. In Zwift I hit 16% grades and its still not at the top. Makes you lean forward and work in a tighter flexion position with your thighs - just like on real climbs. I can stand and hit the pedals and feels solid.

Cool, but failed.

After a few months the unit stopped moving unless I lifted it off the ground…it just clicks when it tries to raise and lower. Looked online and there are apparently plenty of others that have had issues with this, seemingly a poorly designed belt. Some people have noted that they’ve gone through several of these. I could get a replacement and I want to love it, but…

Good from many aspects

Bought this to take the boredom out of trainer riding, every little bit helps. Wasn’t sure due to cost but it has been worth it. On top of that this is a great company. Had an issue with my climb and they resolved within 24 hours and stood behind it with response and service. Could not ask for more from a company, wish others stood behind their products like they do.

Performs as advertised - Simulates Climbs well

I had reservations making this investment but decided to move forward as our ride group cycles a lot on hills. I am a physical therapist by profession and well versed about specificity of training. Paired with a 2019 Kickr - I was impressed on how it simulated climbs, I felt the quad "burn" that I feel when I actually climb hills forcing me to focus on the pull and lift portion of my pedal stroke. I use this with Trainerroad - erg mode and it works well adjusting incline based on FTP%.
