Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and Âľ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

I got these pants in green a few months ago for a screamin' deal on sale. They are by far the most comfortable hiking pants I have ever worn. I love that they snap, not button, and the soft, soft inside waist band is heavenly -- no binding, no scratching, wash like a dream. The best compliment I can give them is that I just ordered the other two colors! Age 50, Hgt 5'1", Wgt 130, Size 10P
I am 5'1 and have a very small frame. Most petite pants will "fit" me, but not flatter-- they are still slightly long and/or are just really baggy on me. These pants not only flatter, but they are also comfortable and lightweight. While I have not yet worn them hiking, I have worn them around (something I don't do with my other hiking pants) because they look so good. I also feel that they will do wonderfully as hiking pants because of the comfortable fit. Definitely worth going to a store and trying them on for fit if other petite pants don't work well for you. I don't usually review products but these are the perfect pants for me-- hope they don't get discontinued!
As an 60 year old ultra-light backpacker, I’ve hiked all over the world in these comfy pants, most recently the 800 mile Arizona Trail. These pants got me through 95 degree days, cold high altitude nights, dusty trails, and prickly plants with not a single snag in the fabric. The seams, snaps and zippers are sturdy and they wash well and dry fast. The cargo leg pocket is just big enough to hold my cell phone or maps without being bulky. The petite size 6 fits me, 5’4” and 130-140 lbs. I like the button elastic waste cinch that lets you contract or expand the waste band (no annoying belt or buckle) as you put on or lose a few pounds. I rarely roll up the pant legs and have even cut off the fabric straps inside the leg on an earlier pair. I am just buying my third pair.
I've been wearing these pants while working on a shelter construction site in the Philippines. They hold up extremely well, are lightweight and comfortable even in the humidity and heat, and dry quickly after it rains (which happens quite suddenly, and it rains very heavily). I bought them in black and, after a solid laundering, they will be suitable for wearing with flats to my casual office if paired with a nicer blouse. You can really do anything you want with these. I prefer to keep them either full length or at the first roll, and they stay up well because of the loops on the sides, but the knee length isn't my favourite. They're cute enough for me to feel good about how I look while working without being so cute that I look out of place.
The best fit I have been able to find. However, still a bit long, but I can manage. One thing I do not like is the low rise, hence 4 stars rather than 5. I am getting close to 70 years old and still much prefer pants to fit at my natural waist. I am aware most of your customers are younger and like lower rises. Maybe you could give us one style that is not. I like the roll-up style with 2 buttons for different length pants. Great quality I have come to expect from REI.
I bought these pants over memorial day weekend and have been wearing them everywhere. I love that they're three tiered, though I'm finding I prefer the mid calf length the best. Over the weekend, I basically wore them two days straight, during two hikes, an IMAX movie, half a day at a science fair, and then some more trails a day later. They've held up through some dog slobber, multiple cook outs, trails, and major sweating. While they're in major need of a washing, they've been amazing. I'm definitely going to be buying more in the future.
I have been a fan of REI brand clothes for a long time. These pants are very comfortable because of the stretchable fabric. They are also very quick drying and durable. The zippered leg pocket is a must for me, however, I wish there were two. It would be nice to have a pocket for keys, money, and ID, and another for the phone. I really miss having two leg pockets. Still, the stretchy fabric is so comfortable that I can overlook the pocket thing. I wear them for work where I do a lot of bending and squatting, so the stretch is the best. One thing I must mention is the length. I am 5' 2" and purchased the petite length. Unfortunately, they are about 6 inches too long. I think that is much too long for "petite" length pants since petite sizes are usually for those who are 5' 4" or less. None the less, I am very with them.
I love how versatile these pants are. The 3 different lengths are great. I am 5'4", 130 lbs and bought these in 6 petite. They are roomy on me, but have an adjustable waist. Love that feature - I've never seen it in adult clothing. I wore these on a rainy day in NYC and they dried off very quickly when we stepped into restaurants and stores. I can't wait to wear these over my base layer after a day on the slopes this winter and hiking/camping this spring.
I love my REI hiking pants. I am 5'3" and 110lbs. These are the only pants I have been ale to find that fit me perfectly! I bought a 0 petite and they fit like a glove. I have a little extra room if I gain weight and the adjustable buttons on the inside of the waistband are great for when I lose the water weight on long hiking trips. Bonus, I didn't have to hem the bottom as I normally have to do for all other pants I buy. They dry super fast and have a nice stretch to them.
I bought the Sahara convertible hiking pants in a 6P (these have a much more generous fit) when I was on the mainland. So I went ahead and ordered the Sahara roll up hiking pants in a 6P online (we don't have any REI stores here). For some reason they were too short and much more fitted so I returned them for a regular size 6. The regular size 6 was a little more relaxed and the length was better (I am between 5'4" and 5'5"). These are really nice. I definitely can wear them for hiking and for going out.
