Rated 5 out of 5 by from A workhorse. Great power in a small package! I bought this a month ago because, to be honest, all of my other flashlights were inadequate. They simply didn't have the oomph (lumens) I needed for everything from inspecting under the hood of the car to out on the trail on a night hike. This light covers it all. The rotating selector ring gives you so many more options for brightness compared to two or three presets. Plus the three colored led bulbs are a nice added feature. This light has more than enough illumination for 95% of any needs that might arise! Plus it isn't much bigger or heavier than a compact flashlight that uses two AA batteries. Be warned, if you try just using it in "turbo mode" it eats batteries faster than Cookie Monster eats cookies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brightest single-battery flashlight LED technology parallels computer technology, advancing every year. I buy a new LED flashlight or headlamp every year or so to keep up. The Nitecore SRT7 is the brightest flashlight I've seen yet with a single 18650 battery and is my favorite to date. Most flashlight companies exaggerate their out-the-front luminosity. Comparing to other flashlights with a SureFire for reference, I estimate this one at around 800 lumens, so it's not far off of the advertised 960 lumens. The beam pattern is well done, with a bright center spot that gradually tapers off to a wide flood. In addition to the bright while LED, the sets of three red, green, and blue LEDs are fun. I don't use the latter two much, but do use the red a lot to preserve my night vision. The beam pattern of the three red LEDs is messy rather than uniform and is not that bright, but it's still usable. There is the dreaded strobe mode, but it's past the brightest white LED mode where it does not get activated accidentally. The user interface is well done, with a click between modes. After a year of use, it has held up well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does it's job well First let me say this flashlight is bright. I work in LE during the evening and I have to use it multiple times a night. It does a great job. It's lightweight and feels sturdy. The only negative I have is the battery life. If you use it in turbo mode (the brightest setting) be prepared to replace the batteries often. I purchased the SRT7 about a month ago and have gone through 3 pairs of batteries. Rechargeable batteries are an option, but unfortunately it was not available when I purchased the SRT7. Overall it's a great flashlight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supreme tactical flashlight that's also versatile The Nitecore SRT7 is basically the ultimate tactical flashlight that has more features than the typical high-end tactical light. With a strobe mode and a max-output "turbo" mode of 960 lumens, this is obviously a tactical flashlight. The sturdy all-aluminum body is rugged for duty use for police and military. However, the flashlight also features some other useful modes. This comes from the inclusion of RGB LEDs inside the reflector. The Red, Green, Blue LEDs offer some uses that aren't typically found in most tactical lights. The red is especially useful in low-light situations without blinding yourself or disturbing others. The green is intended for map-reading and the blue for stains like blood. These features make it useful for everyone from hunters, campers, to law enforcement officers. The SSR (Smart Selector Ring) is also a unique feature in that it allows you to select a custom output for the main white LED. Instead of the typical preset low, mid, high modes in other tactical lights, this ring selector allows you to control the output to your liking. The ring selector is also intelligently designed so that modes are located next to each other in the best way. For example, max output Turbo mode and Strobe are next to each other for tactical applications. Meanwhile, the lowest setting and the red LED mode is next to the Standby mode. Standby is a mode that turns off the flashlight, but periodically flashes a little LED on the side of the reflector head for nighttime location. This is great for camping so you can find the flashlight in a dark tent. Upon turning the light on, you can select red mode or the lowest white output. The flashlight also features a beacon mode but lacks a dedicated SOS mode. However, it does offer a blue and red flashing mode that's useful for law enforcement. Another remarkable thing about this flashlight is the waterproof construction. It's rated at IPX8 like most other tactical flashlights, but due to its unique construction, is highly waterproof. In fact, there are videos online that demo it as a scuba diving light, using it 40~60 meters underwater. Unlike other Nitecore flashlights that have USB ports for charging, this flashlight is better sealed for maximum water tightness. It also can run on rechargeable batteries and I currently use a Nitecore 2600 mAh rechargeable 18650 battery in it. However, my Fenix 3400 mAh rechargeable 18650 batteries do not work in it despite working fine in my Fenix TK15S2. The cons of this flashlight are relatively minor. First, it's rather expensive, but it's high quality and feature-packed. Another con is that the included tactical ring is made of plastic, not metal. While you don't need it, most tactical flashlights still offer a full metal tactical grip ring. Another minor con is the included holster. It's decent quality, but the bottom is open, exposing the end cap and button of the SRT7. This makes scratches and accidental activation more likely from wearing the holster. Overall, this is an excellent product and makes for a very powerful, but versatile tactical flashlight.
