I really like this light. I think it may be one of the best size to lumen ratio when it comes to COAST flashlights. Not too big and bulky but still incredibly bright at an impressive 4000 lumens on turbo. Even high mode 2300 lumens is sustainable and i love that. Of course being so powerful yet so small it does drain the included 5000mAh Zithion ZX955 battery rather quickly which has been updated from 4000 to 5000mAh by the way. But what i love about this flashlight is that any other ordinary 21700 cell will work just fine with it. Obviously you'd need to use a cell of good quality in such a powerful flashlight and I've noticed that you may need to add a small neodymium magnet to the negative pole of the battery in order for a good connection to be made with the tailcap as the original Coast ZX955 protected 21700 battery that comes with it is a bit longer than normal unprotected 21700 batteries. However this is not a big deal at all. It is definitely much nicer than having a property 21700 battery like the ZX1000 found on the PX11R. As while it is a 21700 battery it has multiple ring contacts on the negative pole and thus a normal 21700 cell is not compatible in that flashlight. This is not the case here. This is definitely much more convenient when you need to use the Flashlight for extended periods as recharging and taking multiple standard 21700 batteries is much easier then dealing with property batteries. As far as other features go the Flashlight has 5 modes in total along with the turbo. Including a very useful 60 lumen "moon glow" mode which can run for up to 60 hours. The only thing I don't like is that this is the last setting in the settings cycle to get to. So you have to press the button 3 times going through medium high and low in order to get to it. It would've been much more convenient if it was the first or second option. Or alternatively hidden away in a quick toggle option like a quick double or triple click as it can be rather annoying having to go through some really bright modes in the middle of the night when only a tiny bit of light may be needed. The build quality of the light is excellent and the Flashlight has 2 USB-C ports built-in. One is for recharging the ZX955 battery and the other is so that you can use the Flashlight as a power bank to recharge other devices like your cell phone. I actually have the XP46R which is bigger brother of this flashlight. Same exact flashlight as the XP40R just a different model number as the XP46R has a charging port on the removable battery. The light is otherwise exactly the same just with a different model number. I've always liked that flashlight but i thought it was a bit on the big size. This XP20R is more or less exactly what i was looking for. It's half the length and significantly lighter than the XP46R which can be seen in the photos I've attached. Overall i was quite impressed by this XP20R flashlight and i definitely think it is well worth it. This flashlight will definitely be seeing a lot of use around my property. Soom feature is very nice and handy and you can lock it into a fixed focus position by twisting the head. It's a nicely designed and well built flashlight overall backed with COAST's limited lifetime warranty and i can definitely recommend it.
The XP20R is very versatile. Besides having multiple lighting intensity, it is well built and can be used in different environments . Sometimes using low intensity light is all you need to not give a position away or save you night vision . The highest intensity light is great for finding small or partially hidden objects .The power left indicators help with decisions on the mix of lusage and will keep ou from being left with a depleted light. I would imagine it would be great to use in caves . Or keep in your car to temporally light up a person if they come up to your car . It is a medium sized flashlight and rechargeable. I recommend it .
I received this to field test in my everyday life and it withstood what I threw at it. Let me first say that the no-roll feature saved it from certain death when I left it on my tailgate and drove about a mile to 7-11. I was shocked to see it was still there! Great add-on, guys! I haven't even charged it yet, got it about a week ago and use it several times a day for any task needing a light source or just to add additional light and it's still at 75% charge! AMAZING! It's durable, weatherproof and packs a little heft but not so much to be annoyingly heavy. I seriously love it so much I sleep with it in reach at night now! Definitely a bargain for the money and of course, with a lifetime guarantee Coast hit it outta the park on this one. Great product, highly recommended and great addition to any toolbar, glove box or tacklebag.
I only had it for a week and WOW!!! The built and quality is exceptionally well thought out. Great broad peripheral vision on flood mode setting and substantial observable assessment on spot mode while performing general visual inspection of an aircraft exterior on ground. The beams luminescent power has excelled while utilizing in the downpour of rain. Superb battery life output and the accommodation of having a dual power to use alkaline battery in need is a very good option in unexpected event. An amazing light that elevated the complexities of my duties involved.
I've been using the XP20R flashlight for a while now, and it’s easily one of the best flashlights I’ve owned. The combination of power, durability, and useful features makes it a great investment. The 4,000-lumen output is incredibly bright, and the SLIDE FOCUS™ with beam lock lets me easily switch between a wide flood and a focused beam. I also really appreciate the built-in power bank—it’s come in handy more than once when my phone was running low on battery. Durability-wise, this flashlight feels solid and well-built. The IP54 rating gives me confidence that it can handle dust and light rain without any issues. The anti-roll tail cap is a nice touch, especially when working in uneven areas or outdoors. Overall, the XP20R is a great all-around flashlight, whether you need it for work, emergencies, or outdoor adventures. Highly recommend!
This flashlight was sent to me to field test, and I'm thrilled to try it out and give an honest review. I have had it for a few weeks now and have been blown away by the power the light produces, even at the lower levels. I have been testing this for daily use, such as walking the dog at night and entering properties without power. I have been very impressed with the ability to light up the entire yard at night or an entire room when completely dark. It's larger than a pocket flashlight, but I still grab it for daily needs. I have been using the light regularly and have not had to recharge it once. The LED top can get hot with extended use, but this has not been a problem. This body of the light seems tough and would be great for a tactical defense role with its crowned top edge. Overall, I've been very impressed and will continue to use this regularly.
Coast sent me this flashlight to be a tested in everyday use and I have to say it is one of the best flashlights I've ever had. It is super comfortable in the hands and it is also super bright also like the fact that it has a spot for a linyard I've only had it for a day and already fell in love with it and of course later on I will post another one thank you Coast for allowing me to be part of the crew
I use this light at night mostly in the bedroom and the living area. The light is heavier than present one ( my wife and I each have a smaller version). Because of my eyesight, I have a problem finding the off/on switch, in the dark, it is present ones, it is at the end.. I will keep it and place in console of my truck. It is a very quality light, very well constructed. Regards, Mel
I use the Coast XP20R daily as a security contractor working nights mostly, and it’s been rock solid. The brightness is excellent, especially when I need to light up large areas or focus in tight spots. It’s durable, holds a charge well, and the adjustable beam is a huge plus. Easily one of the best work flashlights I’ve used. Highly recommend!
I'm a professional plumber, EDC this light and use it many times a day. Love it ! Very best EDC light I've aver had. I've become accustomed to having the red light at night especially when in the car. Nice bright light and doesn't mess up your eyes adjusted to dark.
