Fantastic Light, Heed The Use Instructions
I really like this light, it has good battery life, multiple power levels, is light weight, but when the manufacturer tells you to partially unscrew the cap when traveling, take that precaution to heart. I had been using the light on the highest brightness setting, and forgot to return it to a low setting. The next morning, I picked it up, slipped it in my nylon quilted jacket, and started my day. When I took it off and hung the jacket on a hook, the power button struck the wall, and tuned the battery on while in the pocket. Within 30 seconds or so, the light burned a neat round hole through the pocket. Thankfully I noticed it, and turned it off. I now back off the cap a turn or two any time it’s not in use.
Works well, sturdy construction, well made !!
Just received this light. It works as advertised with easy well thought out controls. The highest level is extremely powerful. It's easy to set it somewhere in the middle such as 2 or 3 which gives off standard light levels. If the need arises to have a very bright light for a long distance, it is very easy to access more power at the touch of one of the small rear button. The construction seems excellent and rugged, all controls work so far. This isn't a toy lamp but a very good camping/hunting companion in addition to other headlamps or lights commonly used in camp. I would keep it on its highest setting, turbo, in bear country, the beam is so powerful that I believe it can act as a deterrent .
Great flashlight but gets very hot
I really like this flashlight but gets very hot. It’s larger than the PD36R which I own and really like as well. I loved the screw down cover for the charging port and I can’t believe how bright this flashlight is. Be aware that this flashlight gets very hot and has a feature called intelligent memory that reduces the brightness of the flashlight when it detects that its overheating. This is a plus and a minus. Great to protect the flashlight but not great if you need the light in a critical situation.
Awesome flashlight
A lot of light in a relatively small package, with great build quality. I like the two button operation where one button turns it on/off and another button selects the power level so you don't have to cycle through all of them every time you turn the light on or off. Set it to the power level you prefer, and the other button operates as a simple on/off switch. The on/off button is twice the size of the power control button, so you can tell which is which just by feel in the dark. The eco mode is fairly dim, but lasts 48 hours on a charge in that mode. The low setting is reasonably bright, and lasts 20+ hours, so that's where I typically leave it, and I doubt I'd ever use the eco setting. For general flashlight use the low setting is actually pretty good, and then as your light requirements increase you can bump it up one setting at time with the second switch. The turbo mode is insanely bright, and I'm not sure I'd ever have a practical need for that much light. When I bought it I wasn't sure about the fact that it doesn't have an adjustable beam focus (zoom) capability, but as you cycle through the med/high/turbo modes the beam does very well with the fixed reflector. It illuminates a wider area on the short end as the brightness increases, and in the high and turbo mode the beam throws a few hundred yards. There are reviews on the web that show how bright each mode is, the turbo mode is insane out of such a small package. Overall I'm pleased with the fixed reflector, it provides a very practical balance of long beam throw with wide enough coverage up close, so it always seems to have enough light everywhere I need it. I live in an area of 2-3 acre lots, so I have a lot of empty land to test it with and it is the best flashlight I've ever owned. I can't think of anything about it that I'd try to improve, and now that I've seen its light coverage pattern, I'm glad that it doesn't have an adjustable beam because that's just one more thing to have to adjust every time I turn it on for a different purpose than the previous time. The rechargeable battery is also a plus for me because I know its always on a full charge when I turn it on, and the runtimes are long enough that I won't use up all the charge for hours, even on the higher power modes. If I decide to buy a second battery, it uses a common size readily available from any battery supply source, but its not cheap at around $25 or so because of its high (5000mAh) capacity.
Superb Flashlight
I’m very satisfied with this light, just be aware that the metal around the bulb are does get hot when on the highest setting for a prolonged period
Every day carry workhorse!
This is my new EDC! It’s replacing my old TK20, which I love but I’m always looking for smaller, brighter, and lighter in weight. With all the hats I wear in a day plus being outdoors often I carry a fair amount of gear. That being said, this 2.0 is a great addition to my kit. It took me a day to two to get used to the two switches on the tail cap but once I did, it’s a game changer! No more fumbling around for the second switch on the side of the flashlight. And then there is the brightness; to have 3,000 lumens available in such a small package is awesome! This will be my EDC for years to come.
Great light
Great light . USB-c chargeable. All controls are on the tail cap. I like it.
Fenix TK2.0R V2.0 rechargeable flashlight
Bought this light for search and rescue. Light lives up to its advertised uses. On turbo it is extremely bright. The strobe feature is really useful also. So far love this light
wanted to love it. But,
I purchased for camping and hiking. Used 2 times without issues but, will not charge. I’m going to exchange and try another. I’ll update after using for a while.
Love it! Turns night into day for a small light
I have owned several Fenix flashlights over the years and love them. The TK20R is slightly bigger, mainly in diameter, than the last two I have had and a bit heavier. But it makes up for that with the two button tail piece and the maximum lighting setting. We live in a wooded area and I can see huge swaths of the pathway and surrounding trees when outside. Or, I can reduce the light to the point that I can read something but not annoy those around me. Well made and a great EDC item.
