I have spent over three decades in the fire service and most of that as an aerial delivered firefighter. I have had the opportunity evaluate all sorts of gear/tech throughout my years. I'm currently a lead sUAS drone pilot for the largest county in Washington state and need the best of the best for emergency SAR missions. The T4R Long Throw meets everything a first responder would ask for. This light can be used for all walks of life, when you need a light that is small, compact and can shine over a long distance, this is a perfect choice.
There is not a better lightweight flashlight on the market. I have had the original T4 for 4 years. Still going strong with original battery. I thought it was the most powerful, lightweight flashlight possible until I saw the T4 Long Throw. OMG we were on a night safari, the guide had a giant spotlight, and the T4R totally dusted it. So I bought it. It has adjustable intensity so you dont blind someone unnecessarily, but it does not have adjustable beam angle. When they figure that out, I guess I will be hearing the incredulity in my wife's voice when she says, "you bought ANOTHER Inova T4!!" Yep.
To be clear……this is too much flashlight for me. The distance the beam reaches is hard to believe and comes from a normal sized flashlight. I’ve been able to spotlight coyotes further away than ever before. I’ve also found the focused beam to be awesome for chimney and tunnel inspection. Often, with a bright less focused beam, light reflecting from the sides inhibits vision. The long throw focused beam reduces that reflected light. You feel like you are communicating with extraterrestrials when you shine it into the dark night sky. If you need to search long expanses, inspect some chimneys, communicate with aliens or simply win the “I’ve got the brightest flashlight at summer camp” game. This is the one.
