I've had this flashlight for over a year and have since gifted one to two coworkers... it is really that good, despite the price. I work for at a rail yard and most days I find myself inside of our dry bulk semi trailers and this light is my most important tool, by far. Forget the boots, knee pads, fall protection harness, hard hat, gloves, safety glass, you name it. They are all useless if I somehow forget to bring my flashlight with me. I work in a harsh environment for people and equipment and this light holds up great, even after a year of use. It's durable. Surprisingly so, despite being made out of plastic. Think battery powered hand tool plastic, this is it. I've dropped this flashlight countless times and it never skips a beat. I've dropped this inside of dry bulk trailers from the top, which is a 13 foot drop straight down into an aluminum pipe at the bottom, I've even dropped it off of the top while standing, which is more like an 18 foot drop onto concrete. No issues! I use this primarily as a short run inspection light, so I don't keep it on for more than a few minutes at a time, except for when I need to go all the way into a tank, then it works well to light the interior for longer periods, really well in fact. All of this to say, the battery lasts me a little over a week without charging. It still works after this time, but brightness starts to decline after a week of no charging. Charging is a breeze, you can stick the battery in an 18650 charger, or use the included type-C cable. Charging is pretty quick! The included clip is very very sturdy and while it IS possible to snag your light on something and have the clip fall off, it is unlikely and difficult to do, I've only done it once in these many months (actually about a year now) and it was due to carelessness on my part. The one thing that I'd like for Coast to change about this light is the marketing, they advertise this as being two different types of light and while it absolutely does do a bit of both, it is most certainly not a master of either. I see a lot of Vine reviews on here complaining that the light doesn't work long distance.... duh... of course it doesn't. It combines both styles to give you a bit of versatility and in a very dark or absolutely dark place, you will be thankful that this has a spot and flood beam light source. It will light the area and a great distance ahead in ABSOLUTE darkness. Once additional note that I'd like to make, I do like how the settings work when powering on. First click is Medium, which is perfect for most applications. Second click is High, then third click is Low, which you won't likely use often. Then your forth click is off, but only if you just cycled through settings. After about 10 seconds of use, this light turns off with one simple click no matter what setting you've been using and I absolutely love this feature! Holding down the power button at any time for more than a few seconds will give you an extra bright "Turbo" mode, which only lasts for about 30 seconds before dropping down in brightness. I don't find myself using this often, the regular settings are great. All in all, this flashlight is WELL worth the price, especially considering the warranty that comes with it. You can take this to ANY job site and find a use for it, you can take it camping, jogging, hiking, you name it. You can even submerge it for a time without issue, is regularly clean mine in a sink full of bleach water and I've never had an issue. If you want a light to last and do its job well, this is a good pick. That said, all of Coast's lights are fantastic!
This is an awesome little pocket size flashlight. This is my new daily carrier in my pocket, pack quite the punch very bright battery last a long time, easily rechargeable and extra protecting on the outside of it’s been a good light so far in my experience would recommend it to anyone very affordable price point for its class get them while they’re still available they’re amazing
This little PX9R honestly shocked me with its brightness and it’s small portable size that’s an easy choice for an EDC-highly recommended this little powerhouse
I received my new flashlight over a week ago and initially, I thought it was just another compact flashlight that I'd toss in my work truck. I have over 30 LED flashlights - I kind of have an obsession for tactical gear so I would consider myself a professional user. Firstly, I was impressed with the packaging - it's neat and not the hermetically sealed package that you need a can opener to get into. The build quality is impressive and I like that it's not made of aluminum or another conductive material that when I drop it near high voltage, it's not going to arc my equipment. It appears to made out of fiberglass reinforced PA-6 but I can't find mold markings. On/off button is solid and tactile, the audible click sounds like quality. It has the traditional EDC clip but what the instructions don't tell you is that there are two spots on light that will accept the clip. This is helpful if you are using it on your hardhat like me - reverse the direction of the clip and it can be attached forward or rear facing. What I like best about this is the low power light. This is helpful when you are in tight spaces and too much light will blind whatever you are inspecting. This is also helpful when you are trying to read micro printed electronic capacities - it's just enough light. This is the first time I have used a rechargeable battery with a USB charger - great idea to keep the light case free of charge ports and completely sealed.
I’ve had the Px9r for about a week as of the time of this review. Pros: Very Bright Rechargeable battery, and alkaline battery capable Light weight Pocket clip is ball cap capable I’m writing a review, because when I received the light, there were no other reviews to let me know if this model was worth the purchase price, I think it is. Light is very bright without being too large. Dual lense and led’s make for a very nice light pattern. The center is even and bright, with a lot of splash around the sides. I’ve been using it for about a week, and still have not had to recharge the battery. I use the light at work for a couple of hours per day.
I received my new light and was instantly impressed! The light description sounded like it was not going to come with the rechargeable battery, but it did come with one! I put the battery on the charger and the light showed it was charged pretty quickly. Installed the battery and was very impressed with the operation of the power button and the output levels of this light! I use a HP3R daily on a frequent basis so this light is slightly bigger than I had hoped for but the output and the reversible clip make the size worth the larger light. I highly recommend this light as I’ve been using it frequently over the course of a week and have not had to recharge it since new.
Coast continues to put out quality flashlights and this one is no different. It is almost the little brother to the XP18R, my favorite COAST light. It is rugged and easy to carry. The light comes with a reversible clip, which allows you to wear it many ways. COAST even stepped up their packaging for this light. The one feature it does not have is the sliding focus, but for the price point, you can't have it all. I would highly recommend this dual powered gem. This light rolled around in the bottom of my boat in water while I was duck hunting today and it never missed a beat!!
Very bright with multiple levels of brightness. The USB rechargeable feature is great
I received this flashlight as part of the field tester program. This flashlight is awesome! It has a really great run time with rechargeable battery. But if you ever are in a pinch it comes with the piece you can put regular alkaline batteries in and use it that way as well. It is super bright and lit up my entire back yard. If I was to go back and buy another flashlight this would definitely be one I would buy as it is well worth the price. It is small enough to carry in my purse or pocket so the belt clip isn't a necessity for me, but also not so small that it gets lost!
It showed up and I wasn't sure if I could get it out of the package without stabbing myself. But overall I am impressed after a couple of weeks of getting to know it. Even my two year old can figure out how to use it and he likes it as well. It is very rugged feeling, like you could run it over with the car and it would still work. Super bright and adjustable brightness with ease. I like the reversible clip and long battery life. It is a bit big to clip in my Jeans pocket but it stays put. Overall this one is my favorite coast light and it's going to get some miles.
