Good but…
Nice but lost the most important feature from the HX5. Numerous times I have pulled the HX5R out of my pocket and the light is on. With the switch on the side and not on the end cap like the HX5 the HX5R is much more prone to negligent discharging the light. It is also much more difficult to index for quick deployment. I do however like all of the lumens variables but most importantly not having to cycle them all every time just to turn it off. Construction is on par as well as the ability to use a normal AA battery if desired or needed. Overall good but less two stars for ND’s and indexing…which could both be fixed with an end cap switch like the HX5.
great light takes abuse
I have had this flashlight for about 9 years. I work in industry and it has been my go to pocket light I carry everywhere I have probly charged it a few thousand times and the battery is holding on strong. it has taken quite a few falls from high places and has held together very well. its been severely abused. it still works great. after all this time its only now starting to act up some from all the abuse.
Glad to use less disposable batteries
Glad I am using less disposable batteries. Seems pretty durable. The built in clip means it doesn't fit a properly in any of my standard flashlight holsters. I strongly recommend flipping it around whether wearing it directly on your belt or not. Has seemed to survive multiple drops from 2+ stories in height. This seems to suggest it was well made.
One Year of Use, Rereview
Thought I would update my review of this having used it for over a year. I still love the light level and rechargeable function and the compact size. What I have found as shortcomings are this: The recommended belt sheaf is too small and as a result the flap does not close completely and once the velcro wears a little the retention flap is useless. The second issue is placement of the switch. Because the sheaf does not stay closed, the side mounted button often gets pushed which results in my battery being worn down, usually when I need it most. Other than that, still a great product.
Power Flashlight
I've been using this for a few weeks. Plenty of light using in normal mode and super bright light using the burst mode that also projects it far ahead and up into trees. The charge port cover stays attached and the switch lights up when in use for a short time. I use it while Walking my dog nightly.
Love this light
Bought it because the warranty first, price second and slide focus 3rd. Got it for a tactical light and so far ive shot 300+ rnds of 5.56 and works flawlessly still! The beam is crazy bright and the flood will light your entire room for a SDW. Highly recommend this light!
HX5R 340 Lumen
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this and love the HX5R 340 Lumen Rechargeable pure Beam Focusing pocket clip side focus and the USB charging. This saves on buying batterys! Now that i have this flashlight i will never need to buy another. I highly recommend this.
