Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm, multipurpose BUT hard to get arms Nice jacket and I liked that it was warm without feathers. Removable shell makes this both a nice winter coat and a rain jacket with use of shell alone. It is a bit bulky and my 9 year old complained about it making it harder to move. Biggest issue is design of end of the sleeves. The inner fleece connect to the shell at the end of the sleeve with the typical loop of elastic. This lets the fleece get pulled through the sleeve opening, requiring tugging and readjustment - just what you need when you are 5 minutes late to get to school. We are planning to add a couple of sewn-in snaps to the sleeve ends to make more stable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice jacket for between seasons This is a nice looking and nice fitting winter jacket but it is not warm enough for true cold weather living. It is certainly not warm enough for standing at the bus stop in a typical Minnesota winter. My 11 year old son says that it is not as warm as his previous winter jacket (a cheaper brand) and that the hood is a good wind breaker but doesn't provide insulation or real warmth in below freezing weather. He said that he quickly got cold standing outside when it was about 25 degrees F. (In Minnesota we need a coat that will keep us warm at least down to 10 degrees.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love product, but faulty zipper I purchased this jacket for my son for hiking, skiing, everyday use as a warm wind breaker and waterproof jacket. I am very pleased with the purchase except the zipper has come apart on 3 different occassions in the last two weeks. While it is working now, I was hopeful that I could either get this repaired or have a replacement before more wear is put on the jacket. Unfortunately, I live in Swansboro, NC and Cary, NC is the closest REI about 200 miles away. Any advice or direction? It would be greatly appreciated and thank you for all REI gear that I have used all my life. Blake

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stiff Collar Annoying for my Kid I bought this jacket for my kid, who is a little over 4 yearse old and is of average build and height. The sizing chart, according to Columbia, indicates XXS is for size 4, but the jacket seems large. The collar is very stiff and doesn't really 'give' even when unzipped and that really annoyed him. I like the durability and the style of the jacket, but it just didn't work for my kid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed. This jacket feels more than a 3 in 1 jacket. It is very versatile, light but strong, easy to carry and it is very good looking. I use it for all my 3 season hiking trips except very cold winters. Being waterproof but breathable makes it the right choice for all kinds of weather, and the inner removable layer is so warm. It also has the ability to grow with you since it has expandable and extensible sleeves. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for all seasons I bought this as a Christmas present for my son and couldn't be happier. All together, it keeps him warm and dry on the nastiest of days. An adjustable hood is a nice extra feature, as well as the fact that it's removable. Each of the layers will serve their purpose individually in winter and fall on cooler wet or dry days. I'll also say that it is easy to assemble and disassemble the layers, and it's easy to zip and unzip, even for my little one! The Outgrown feature that will let me lengthen the sleeves as my son grows will ensure that I will get a few years' use out of this coat. The only criticism I have is that there should have been a drawstring added at the waist for the windy days. Other than that, a very warm, very worthwhile buy for my active 5 year-old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good fit, practical, warm and comfortable. A 6 year old and his mom are very happy with this jacket. He wears it to school every day (in a northern European country). Removable liner was a plus for three season wear. Bright color is an important safety feature for overcast or rainy days. Hood is very comfortable and easy to adjust.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Coat but... I bought this coat for my 8 year old son. From the outside, the coat looks great. Once you unzip it, the fleece layer is sparkly on the inside. My son did not want to wear it, as he felt it looked to girly for him. I had to return it. If you don't mind the sparkles, it seems like a great coat!

Hi I just ordered this jacket for my son and it is thinner than I was expecting. Around what temperature ranges would this jacket be good for. We are in central Ohio where winter is typically very cold. Thank you.

Asked by: skim714
Columbia unfortunately does not list a temperature range for the Bugaboo Interchange 3-in-1 Jacket. Most manufacturers do not put temperature ratings on jackets because they are too subjective. Not only is everybody different but conditions, nature of activity and the type and amount of layering underneath can affect how a certain temperature will feel.
