Rated 4 out of 5 by from So worth it I did get this on sale, so I can't say whether it's worth it for full price, but I'm thrilled. I have a subaru impreza hatchback, and just recently went on a camping trip with 3 friends. 4 adults + all our camping gear = a lot of stuff. BUT! We fit nearly everything in the cargo carrier, leaving plenty of room for bags of cheetos and bottles of coke (road trip essentials) in the car. Does seem to affect the gas mileage a bit, but nothing crazy. It also will move a little bit when I go over bumps in the road, but it's secure and sturdy nonetheless. No wind noise either.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from HAS MANY FLAWS. IT LOOKED VERY NICE AND PRICE WORTHY WHEN I SAW IT IN THE LOCAL REI IN OAK BROOK, IL. WE INSTALLED IT ON OUT 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH FACTORY ROOF RACK AND SINCE DAY ONE WE HAD ISSUES WITH IT. THE TOP IS VERY FLIMSY AND IT WOULD VIBRATE AGAINST THE BOTTOM MAKING TREMENDOUS NOISE AT 60MPH AND ABOVE. THE CLAW TYPE MOUNTING POINTS WERE SPREADING SIDE TO SIDE AFTER FEW HOURS OF DRIVING EVEN WITH 50% WEIGHT CAPACITY LOADED. THE TIE DOWN POINTS BROKE OFF THE SECOND DAY ON THE ROAD CAUSING OUR CARGO TO SHIFT CONSTANTLY. I RETURNED IT BACK TO THE STORE THE DAY AFTER WE GOT BACK FROM THE TRIP AND EXCHANGED IT FOR YAKINA SKYBOX 16 CARBONITE. IT WORKS GREAT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits 2015 Kia Soul Got a good price with the 20% off coupon. The cargo box was well packed in a sturdy cardboard box and delivered to my local REI for pick up. The Thule Force Large was only one of a few cargo boxes short enough to fit on a Kia Soul without protruding past the windshield. I felt that a shorter box located behind the windshield would be more aerodynamic since it wouldn't interfere with the updraft that goes over the windshield. This should also lessen the likelihood of the updraft pushing bugs and rain through the front lip of the cargo box. The cargo box is almost a perfect fit for the Soul when mounted on OEM cross bars. I have the Rola 59789 AP-GTX cross bars which fit into the factory installed mounting holes, which should come standard on all second gen Kia Souls w/o sunroof sold in the U.S. When pushed to its rear most position, the cargo box has about 1" clearance with the antenna making it very easy install. The lid's hinges and locking hardware are mostly plastic but I hope they'll hold up for a few years. I chose this model over other models due to quality, price, and Thule's use of metal mounting clamps which grip the cross bars from both front and rear directions. There was minimum noise at highway speeds, no noticeable impact on handling, and no bugs or rain infiltration during one 250 mile road trip with light rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install, great shape! As it does have a quick grip and is very light, it is very easy to install and remove. Although it looks very slim (yes, it is), height increase including newly installed bar, my SUV can't go into garage which is my only disappointment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great size. Small water problem. Fits great on my '13 Impreza wagon. Honestly I have enough room to fit the L size. The last week has been non-stop rain in Los Angeles and I noticed a decent amount of water in there. Not sure how it got in. Either through a gap in the closure or in the tray where the feet slide. Either way I'm not too bothered by it. Just bought a rubber mat from Home Depot to line the bottom with to keep my items off the floor.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Soooooo flimsy! I can't believe this is made by Thule. For something intended to protect your valuables and endure rooftop conditions, it's made from plastic about as thick as two business cards. Two hands are needed to open and close it otherwise it flexes too much to line up the latch. It also shakes and wobbles at freeway speeds. Can't imagine it'll last more than a few uses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second time is a charm Easy to install (and we are not very handy). The first one came damaged--luckily we were at the store and could just reorder. Haven't really used it yet, but fits our Grand Cherokee very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use. Not much wind drag. I purchased this for a trip . I haven't taken it yet but have had it on the Vehicle and I don't notice much drag or difference in the gas mileage. This is going to be a big help.

Will this fit factory installed roof racks on a 2016 Subaru Outback?

Asked by: gracemeguide
The mounting hardware on the Force roof box will attach directly to your Outback's factory crossbars. Some larger roof boxes may hinder the ability to open the rear hatch completely, however. Compatibility for your specific vehicle can be looked up using the Thule Fit Guide: https://www.rei.com/ThuleFitGuide

I live in a town where there are lots of opportunistic thieves. How quick and easy is it to take this thing off? Is there any way to lock it to the top of the vehicle?

Asked by: SemperParatus
The Thule Force boxes are very secure. To remove the box from the vehicle you would have to open the box and unscrew the mounts from the inside. The Force box comes with a lock and key. As long as you have the box locked, you should be okay.
