Don't Need to Cut AnythingI had to chime in and clarify that you DO NOT NEED TO CUT anything to install this lid onto the pack it was designed for, the Blaze AC. This lid is great, I use it for day hikes after packing into base camps and it's a lot bigger than you think it is. I can carry a rain jacket, water filter, head lamp, gps, and some snacks in it no problem. My only gripe, is that when you access the top, you need to take your pack off as the zipper is on the front of the pack (furthest part away from you when wearing it). I would love it if they designed the zipper to be accessed while you are wearing your pack, like the pack I replaced with my Granite Gear pack. I actually ended up here to see if they have redesigned the top lid at all so I can replace the one I have. I attached some photos that show the attachment points and the buckles that go through the loops on the lid.

Great accessory!I ordered this lid for my Blaze AC 60 so that I could stash items that I use frequently, and also so that I could use it as a small pack when out hiking, after camp is set up and gear is dropped, to carry a few essentials.
Installation was easy, and the product is great.

Almost perfect, but....Before I made this purchase I watched a youtube review where the reviewer made it so easy to attach the lineloc lid. However, after purchasing and attempting to attach it to the pack, it was impossible without cutting the loop straps off in order to fit it through the strap clips. One should not have to di this! So, I went back and watched the video review again and sure enough, the review showed that they too had cut those looped straps as well. The reviewer at granite gear just didnt mention the loop straps of the lid had been cut off prior to taping the video. That's why it looked so easy. duh! unfair! Lets be honest, show us or tell us there may be dufficulties in attaching the lid to the pack.
I now wonder if cutting the strap voids any possible return. I hope Granite Gear fixes this design flaw.
After cutting the straps, it attaches fine.

Delly the Squirrely Hiker from
Great addition for backpacking, but unnecessaryIf you're going on a longer backpacking trip, it might be nice to have the top lid as additional storage; otherwise not necessary to have this item. I have the women's VC Crown and was so excited to have the top lid since that's what I'm used to and many modern backpacks don't include this (for weight reasons it makes sense) and I wanted to use it as a day pack. I will be returning however since the waist strap is not comfortable. It had a hard time staying up on my waist without it being uncomfortable. The waist strap really is just a thin strap with no padding. If you need a daypack on a longer backpacking trip, I'd just recommend bringing a light foldable pack. I also didn't take my pack off that much like I thought so there was no reason to access the lid while hiking. And if I needed anything easy to access, I could just use the side and front pockets.

DifficultWas excited to add extra storage to this light weight AC 60 pack. However found that the lid was not easy to adjust when changing volumes of the pack e.g. Overnight gear to day pack and needed to shorten or lengthen straps connecting lid to pack. Am returning the item.
