Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT! For work I spend 5-10 day trips on the river I always put my iPhone and wallet in this, it keeps them completely dry and at the end of the trip it is super easy to find this bright yellow case which has usually been shoved the the bottom of my dry bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supurb I am an avid mountaineer and during my last trip up Mt. St helens in the winter, this case kept my camera completly safe. I attached it to my backpack and glissaded down, with the camera bouncing the whole way. I opened it at the bottom and it was great! However, it had a little fog after the sun came out, but other than that it kept it perfectly dry and safe. The only way this could improve is if it had more thermal insulation so when the white out comes around, it stays warm. Overall great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted As a professional sea kayaking guide for years, this is the case we used to keep emergency phones dry on extended trips. A phone inside of this case that is stored inside of a dry bag will be safe from moisture and impact under almost any conditions. I bought my own and use it every time I am on the water. Having the clear side of the case facing out through a clear dry bag (or window) allows me to see incoming calls or weather alerts on my phone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect Good size to store in the dry well of my sit on top kayak and still access contents. I like the it comes with a hook to clip it in place so it doesn't slide around the boat. It could be just a bit taller. New smart phones are a tight fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect case i bought this because my friend has one. he used it for an emergency survival kit (fishing line, snare wire, fish hooks, etc) and small first aid supplies. I used it for the same thing. i got the all yellow and he had the clear black. i suggest getting the clear black because it holds a little more. a kid i know asked me if he could slam it on the ground and stomp on it hard. i told him he could and when he was done, it had minor scratches, but that was it. everything inside was fine! This is a PERFECT case. (also check other sizes at rei stores)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protected my iPhone in the cave (1040 case) The Pelican case I ordered online arrived in time for my next cave trip. I wrapped my iPhone in a bandana and closed the Pelican case. My iPhone was well protected even during the fall I took on a slippery slope. I do have to say that the Pelican 1020 case was too small for my iPhone 6, even though I checked the measurements before ordering. It was easy enough to exchange the 1020 for a 1040 at my local REI store, so that is really the case I'm reviewing. Having owned Pelican cases previously, I am confident the 1020 will work just as well in a caving situation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not idiotproof The box does what it is supposed to do. I use it for my phone in my kayak. When I'm out camping, someone in the party has to carry this block of plastic with all the phones, matches, and memory cards. It's heavy and it's bulky, but it lives in a world without magic. That is to say that one could likely not make a less bulky or heavy box that does what this one does. Of course, you cannot take the padding out. Duh. Also, you cannot expect that it will always work. A couple of bits of detritus carelessly left in the seal will lead it to leak. However, if you are moderately careful about keeping the seal clear, which isn't difficult, the box will work. I've never head a problem with it and I've had it underwater repeatedly. Also, don't count on it floating unless you are sure the contents of the box are not too heavy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT WATERPROOF CASE WHEN USED PROPERLY I FELT I HAD TO WRITE THIS AFER READING THE TWO NEGATIVE REVIEWS. PERHAPS THE COMPANY SHOULD HAVE AN INSERT IN THE SMALL CASES EXPLAINING PROPER USE AS THE LARGER CASES CONTAIN. I BOUGHT A LARGER CASE WITH THE FOAM INSERT FOR MY FILM CAMERA SO WHEN I BOUGHT MY DIGITAL CAMERA I NEEDED A NEW SMALLER CASE. THE COLORED INSERT MUST REMAIN IN THE CASE SINCE THAT IS PART OF THE SEAL. AND YOU ALSO MUST BE VERY CAREFUL THAT NO SMALL SAND OR DIRT PARTICLES INTERFERE WITH THAT SEAL OR IT COULD INDEED LEAK. I AM WONDERING IF THE TWO REVIEWERS THAT HAD BAD EXPERIENCES HAD ONE OF THOSE ISSUES WITH THEIRS AND THAT WAS WHY THEIR CONTENTS WERE DAMAGED. THESE ARE GREAT CASES AND COME IN A VARIETY OF SIZES SO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND ONE FOR WHATEVER YOUR NEEDS ARE.
