Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential tool for a good price! This is an essential tool for me, now that I'm fed up with trying to use vice grips and an old beater chain for this job. It doubles as a wrench for installing and removing pedals, but I haven't used it for that purpose. I originally got it because my rear derailleur went through a period where it thought it was funny to dump my chain off between the cassette and the rear wheel spokes. I did NOT think that was funny, so I got this tool to show that der who's boss. It was also compact enough that I actually packed it in my pannier for my work commute, just in case it tried to smart off again... So, there you go. It's a chain whip. It's also a pedal wrench. It does a good job, and doesn't cost more than it ought.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful for the occasional mechanic If you need a chain whip and a pedal wrench from time to time, but not very often, this is a useful tool. It works fine for each purpose. It's a little harder to grasp when using as a pedal wrench, because the chain whip part can get in the way. And if the chain has picked up lubricant from the cassette, it can be a little messy. These are minor problems, though. If you're swapping pedals or removing cassettes regularly, spring for separate tools. Otherwise, get this and save money and space.
