Park Tool  Fr-5.2 Cassette Lockring Tool

For the price, this is the best option I have found. Some features are lacking, but it is completely capable of everything it is intended to do: there is no alignment pin to hold it centered on the axle - the lack of alignment pin does allow you to use a skewer to hold the tool in place during use (which might be advantageous if anything has been damaged), and you need a very large wrench (which I had to go buy 'cause my biggest was still too small)

The Park tool worked like a charm. I suggest using the quick release skewer to hold it in place when you use it. For those of us who have never removed a cassette before don’t let noise it makes as you use it unsettle you. Use a chain whip to secure the cassette and turn the cassette tool counterclockwise to remove it. Once it breaks free remove the locking ring. Remove the cassette rings by pulling them away from the wheel along the slots. Reinstalling the old or a new cassette is easy. Just make that you put the cassette rings and any spacers in the proper order. The ring should have the torque written on it. Most are 35-50 Nm. I don’t have a torque wrench so I just tightened up with no pressure and then gave it a quarter of a turn. Years ago I used to work on my bikes, which had freewheels, before cassettes. I knew nothing about removing a bicycle cassette. Christian, in the REI Huntington Beach, assured me that the Park Tool would work. Then he patiently answered all of my questions and showed me the Park chain whip tool, which I needed to complete the job. As a guy who enjoys working on my bike, I find this shop invaluable! Made quick work of replacing my Sram X01 11 speed cassette, slotted in easily and felt quite solid and secure, so much so that along with my wrench and chain whip I felt comfortable putting as much weight as I could muster to crack the old one free. The mark of a good tool is that you don't have to think about it, it just works (like this one) Bonus- it was available in store so didn't have to wait for delivery and it was cheaper than anywhere else I could find it.

I am not a full time bike mechanic, but every so often I need to remove a cassette. this tool was half the price of other brands, and worked perfectly, and for the amount I use it will probably last at least another 25 years...perfect for me.

It works like it should, no problems. Be sure to keep it pressing into the cassette when you are turning it.

The product is surprisingly hefty and robust for the price. It worked quite nicely to fasten a cassette to my direct drive trainer. The only thing that would make this better is if the end of the tool that connects to the ratchet were longer or magnetized.

This lock ring tool was amazing. My wrench fit on it then I was able to use it to remove OR tighten a lock ring. It was great. I can’t imagine a single piece of steel more useful for lock rings than this.

Pretty self explanatory, does the job to change a cassette. Well made, solid price.

A little pricey for what it is but if you're tired of heading into the shop for a cassette change It just about pays for itself the first time you use it. This one has worked on both shimano and sram but mine were old enough for me to wonder if it would work on the newer versions. Your mileage may vary.

Does what it's designed to do, take off cassettes.
