Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplicity at it's best!! If you're looking for an all in one harness this is it. The nicest feature for mountaineering is the fact that you can put this harness on while standing up and wearing crampons. Also, the hip belt allows for comfortable glacier travel with a a full pack on. This harness is very versatile, I've used it on many multi-pitch trad and sport climbs without any complaints. The leg loops are thick, and personally having used a padded harness before, I don't see much difference. The main advantage is the simple design which allows for quick and easy adjusting without the hassle of doubling back leg loops. Whether you're spending the weekend at Smith Rock or climbing Mt. Rainier this harness will serve you well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for work We have these harnesses at a camp i have worked at for two years and they are available to instructors only. I have worn this harness for up to 10 hours every day, week, and seemingly all summer and they still remain comfortable. Though it is not as flexible as a sport harness, i can still get it on a 5.11 in this and not feel hindered. comfortable for the professional to wear all day while kicking 200 screaming middle schoolers down an 80 foot rappel. The extra width on the straps makes rescues more comfortable also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, solid, and roomy This was my first harness. I purchased it primarily for the price, and because I was familiar with it. It's an excellent harness for mountaineering; I've replaced it with a more comfortable harness for regular climbing. The two features that set this harness apart are the oversize straps and the fully dropable leg loops. The length of the belt and leg straps allow for safe use with bulky wither clothing, or for sharing with a larger climbing partner. The dropable loops and buckles allow for easy in and out of the harness even in full winter garb with no fear of snagging on crampons or snowshoes. My primary complaint is the comfort of the harness. The lack of padding makes it less suitable for long trad climbs. This isn't an issue for general mountaineering use where padding is provided by winter garb. I would also add an adjustable drop for the leg loops.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for All Sizes I'm a bit bigger and use this harness, it's comfortable around the legs and never pinches. Packs up small enough to fit in a camelback. My smaller climbing buddy uses it as well and loves it too. Only downfall is that the chalk bag/static belay loop in back hangs the chalk bag too low. Will buy another when this one is due for replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for mountaineering. I purchased this harness for a climb to Rainier in July. It was perfect. Even with a pack on and plenty of clothes, it was comfortable. Going from shorts to 3 layers the harness adjusted well. I also plan to rock climb in it at home through the fall. Good all-round harness.

How much does this harness weigh? (I'm interested in the XS but the weight of any of the sizes would be helpful.)
