Very poor quality
This harness is very comfortable and I was so happy to find it. It's light and breathable. However, with only light/regular use the infinity belay loop started coming apart within a week and the leg-strap holder completely ripped off. For the price of this harness and with Ondra's name, I expected better and do not feel comfortable relying on it to catch me in a fall. My previous BD Honnold harness was uncomfortable but it still shows no sign of wear after 2yrs..
My go to. Love the BD Airnet harness.
Bought 2 months ago. I’ve always climbed on Arc’teryx harness’, and I actually like the BD Airnet slightly more. It’s my go-to gym workhorse or perfect for sport climbing a project outside. Def not for placing gear outside or hanging all day but super comfy and the lightest I have ever felt. The infinity belay loop is silky smooth and a really cool concept and I’ve had no issues hanging on grueling climbs and it being uncomfortable.
WORST DESIGN
This product is not meant for anyone over 200 pounds (or if you plan to belay anyone over 200 pounds). A lot of the men and women I climb with are light and the size fits perfect. Im 6’1, 220 and have 15% body fat. Its not a size issue… the load on the rope means excruciating pain under your legs and your pubc bone. The design is incredibly flawed as the force on the rope is not meant for this harness. The material needs to be thicker and wider to allow for a comfortable wear. My biggest fear is falling in this harness or trying to catch someone. Ive tried connecting with the black diamond team so they can address this issue. Nothing so far. My other size large solution harness from Black diamond does have this problem whatsoever.
Extremely small
The size small might fit my 30 pound dog, but it sure isn't going to fit me. Also the belay loop is way way too short. For comparison, the XS Arc'teryx harness is about 3.5 inches longer in the waist band than this harness. Also, I've worn size small in Metolius, and other BD styles. All of which fit great. The harness does seem great though. I'm sure it fits those food deprived world cup climbers really well. So if my friend was about 30 pounds underweight for her height, I would certainly recommend this harness.
18 Month Review
Used this harness about twice a week (4 hrs a week) for 18 months for indoor climbing. Very lightweight and with reasonable comfort for the cut down design. Good for indoor use ! However you will have to trade durability against low weight as I now need to replace the harness as the tie in points have worn out in that 18 month period. Maybe not unexpected given the nature of the harness but you are paying a premium price for it so bear in mind if you are looking for something that lasts a little longer.
Super compact and lightweight but not perfect
The BD Airnet harness is amazingly compact and lightweight. It packs small which is great for travel and long approaches with lots of gear. It's not the most comfortable harness but it's not uncomfortable. My main complaints have to do with the gear loops. The front ones are set too far back to make them convenient to access quickly, and the rear ones being unprotected fabric don't seem very durable so I can't see using this for alpine or long trad routes.
LIGHTWEIGHT BUT SOLID, OUTSTANDING QUALITY
I am new to climbing, and my opinion may be off on this harness, but I am firmly convinced that BD is producing quality, excellent products. The materials are light, but durable. Flexible, yet sturdy. I couldnt be happier and excited to hit the walls!
I Feel Naked
If you want a harness that makes you feel like your landing in a Lay-Z-Boy when you fall, don’t get this one. On the bright side, you can wear this thing all day and forget that it’s on. It’s seriously light and insanely comfortable to wear!
Outstanding
Best harness I’ve ever used for sport climbing. Harness is so lightweight that during a climb you might forget you’re wearing it! Comfortable on falls and while belaying or hanging. My go to for competition climbing.
Better than my padded harness
I was pleasantly surprised that this is more comfortable to hang in than my padded harness. Like the other reviews say, it is much more packable and easy to walk in too.
