Best uninsulated boots I've ever used.
Best uninsulated boots I've ever used. Just did a 10 day fall canoe trip in these. Not one blister, not one slip. Fit is good and has room for medium socks. I have a wide foot and narrow heel and they fit me just fine. Rare. Fold down feature is a game changer when it's hot. Traction on slippery rocks was really good - better than all other brands. A bit on the heavy side and the calf is a bit floppy on my legs when walking but probably good for most folks. On and off was easier and simpler than I expected. I replaced the insoles with Superfeet and that made a huge difference in overall fit and feel but the original insoles would have been fine for yardwork. Super happy! Glad I spent the money and would recommend to anyone.
Thoughts on sizing.
I’m really psyched to see Xtratuf add different outsole traction options to their awesome product. I was gifted these from Mrs. Claus. And received a size 11. I typically wear sizes from 10-11 across most brands. I have owned the 6 inch deck boots for a year and found them amazing to put on in a second and bomb to the mountain or to kick start the snowblower to blast the snow out the driveway to get to the studio on time. At times, on ice and snow, the deck boots can be a bit slippery so added traction with edge syping would be a bonus in my environment here in Truckee. After try-on this boot does not fit the same way as the deck boot which I sized up .5 size with and the deck boot model is roomy. These boots however cramp my toes in the same size. If I size up from 11 the next size is twelve. I recommend ordering two sizes to try on. These seem to run a size small whereas the 11 fits me as if it’s a 10.
Great idea. Terrible updates.
I have had many pairs of xtratufs. And currently own 6 pairs. Insulated, normal, fashion, work boots, etc. I end up hiking in my xtratufs all the time and while they have the best grip on wet wood of any hiking boot they are terrible side hilling. These boots have a really good sole, good traction in the mud and on edge. They are uncomfortably tight around the instep but that helps with grip. It also makes them colder. The price to pay for traction. But all those changes are useful but the next change is a deal breaker. The calf diameter has been increased over an inch compared to either my regular legacy boots or my insulated legacy boots. An inch increase means these boots are incredibly sloppy and they thwack against your calf and sound like walking around in flip flops. These boots fill up with sticks and leaves and water while hiking. Not sure why they would increase the calf size so much. Other xtratufs fit perfect and for large calf people they should offer the gussetted. I would return them if I could.
Fantastic boots, NOT FOR COMMERCIAL FISHING
All around great boot. Durable. Confortable, well designed. But not for commercial fishing. The blocky land boot style sole catches web. And frankly the soles are not as grippy on deck as the legacies. Makes a great outdoor/hiking/boot. Bring back the un-insulated nxt’s.
The perfect boot?
The perfect boot? Pretty close for sure! Great fit and the sole is incredible: grippy on rocks, logs, wet boat deck, etc. Snug and my feet, not too loose like most boots. I liked them so much I convinced a friend to buy the same boot and he loves them too.
Great addition to the xtra tuf lineup
Very good boots, I love regular xtra-tuf and was excited to see this lug sole version. They are very large in the calf, which is not a problem but just a little sloppy depending on the pants and if they worn in or outside the pant legs
Never going back to an old school deck boot
Wasn’t sure whether they could pull this new sole off. I hate being the first one to bite on these new releases. But they’re honestly the best boots I’ve ever had. Great for my muddy mushroom hikes, and great for the boat as well.
Good traction
I run in a USDA meat processing facility. This boot is a good blend of the legacy and the winter legacy boot. Good traction in snow, ice, fat, grease & blood. I did order 1 size larger and I'm glad I did.
Perfect boot
I love the legacy boot BUT the calf width on these is wider and the traction is amazing! I feel like the small things I disliked about the legacy boot they fixed with these boots
Good trail boot
A little snug out of the box but loosens a bit after a few long walks. Feels comfortable walking on wet/muddy trails and through thick brush. Would buy again.
