Great jacket for light activity
Jacket was warm, insulating and lightweight. I was happy with wearing it in mild rain, on walks and hikes, and it packed small when not in use. The hood was excellent and large enough, while managing to stay on my head during activity. My main complaint was that it ran a bit small in the shoulders and short in the arms. It wasn't so bad that I was uncomfortable, but it did limit the activities I would bring this item to. I would be happy walking and hiking, but would be less eager to bring it to anything where I need large arm and shoulder movements.
perfect quarter-zip pullover
I LOVE this jacket. It has been my go to for dog walking on chilly mornings. My neighbors have stopped me to comment on how much they like it. The description says "camo" but there is enough blue colors that neighbors say it is more like an impressionist painting. It is hard to believe this is light as a feather yet keeps me warm. I took it hiking in the mountains and it was perfect. I love the deep pockets, the protection on the sleeves that does not allow cold to blow into the sleeve. I prefer to have a looser fit and might have gone with a smaller size but this was perfect true to size. This will go in my bag for my next trip since it is so light and can be put into a small pouch. I'm sorry I did not have this for my recent Grand Canyon trip.
Perfect for shoulder seasons!
Hiking in the spring and fall often find me searching my closet for an outer layer that is just right. I love that the Circaloft insulated hoodie is water-repellent for hiking in the PNW. The hood on the pullover is both practical and stylish, an added bonus when it is raining. I'm not usually a fan of camo, but this one sports my favorite teal with nice color contrasts at the sleeves, hem and interior. Layers of warmth can be added underneath for the coldest of days. The hidden top pocket is perfect for keys and a phone. The hand pockets are individual and generous, keeping hands warm when needed. All in all this is a 5 star jacket for the shoulder seasons.
Amazingly Versatile and Comfortable Pullover
This pullover is the most fabulous and versatile outdoor clothing I own. It is incredibly comfortable and warm, it slips easily over the head and I have room to layer warmer clothes under without feeling restricted. The pockets are roomy, for dog leashes, snacks, gloves etc. and it packs down small and light into its own stuff sack for popping into a day pack or luggage. The hood is perfectly adjustable via a cord in the back of the hood so it stays on my head but doesn’t flop into my eyes. I’ve worn it for hiking, on a photo shoot, for an outdoor evening dinner in town, for walking the dogs at home and even inside my sleeping bag on a chilly night camping. I love that it maintains quite a compact profile even when I have the pockets stuffed but it still feels roomy.
Utilitarian pull-over
This puffy pull-over is a utilitarian item that is good for packing in a day bag in case you need it in cold weather. With a boxy fit and camouflaged print (I have the dark sage camo) it isn't the most fashionable top, but because of that, I don't mind if it gets a bit dirty and am more likely to wear it camping. Pros: Lightweight warmth, nicely sized pockets, ample hood, and the sleeves are a perfect length! for reference, I am 5' 7", 135 lbs and tend to find that long sleeves can be too short for me. Not this pull-over! It covers my wrists nicely to keep cool air out. Cons: The wrists have an inner gasket-type section to keep out the wind and cold. Good idea, but the elastic band of fabric that touches my wrist is uncomfortable tight and not very stretchy. Also, the bottom of the jacket has a similarly not-very-stretchy band. Sizing: Because of these two features, I would recommend buying a size larger than your usual. I have a small in this jacket, and would be more comfortable (and have an easier time putting it on and off) with a medium.
Cute but not very warm!
Out of the bag, this is a beautiful lightweight pullover jacket. When I first put it on, I notice it is tight through the back/shoulders, so maybe I’m just too muscular (my bad). The cuff scrunch is too tight for my liking, as it is a bit more of a fight than I like to get it over my hand in either direction. The kangaroo pocket is separated in the middle, but each side is super spacious for anything I carry. I wore this out on a chilly 53 and rainy morning walk, and I was cold the entire walk, even with a long sleeve thermal underneath. The hood is a problem I have with almost every activewear brand, as they are never deep enough. My nose and cheeks were totally exposed and soaked. Forget any hair updo, if you wanted a ponytail or bun you wouldn’t be able to use the hood at all! When I got back from the walk, being wet made it extremely difficult to pull the jacket off over my head and remove from my body. I stayed dry except for my face, but was cold and uncomfortable for a 30 minute walk. I love that it is stuffable and they give you the matching stuff bag. It is a cute jacket, but not the most useful if it is cold and wet.
Love (almost) everything about this jacket!
I tested this jacket out during hikes and plain old walking around outdoors when the temperatures were fluctuating from warm in the sun to chilly in the shade. Overall, I love this jacket! I love the hood, the zippered pockets for hands and the one on the chest (all of which can fit my phone, tissues, granola bar, etc.), and the cinched wrist cuffs that help lock warmth in and moisture/wind out. The wind-blocking ability of this layer is great- especially considering it is so compact and light. I also love that it comes with its own little stuff sack so I can pack it away when I’m not using it. Even with my love for this coat, however, there are a couple things it could improve on. First, the fit. There’s no give to the material at all, so getting this partial-zip article of clothing on and off (over things like hips and other features) can be a bit difficult. I had to order a size M when the size guide said S so I could fit into it properly (5’1”, 145lbs for reference). Second, there’s a version of this that is the full-zip, and I think that would be more convenient for venting the jacket while hiking/working out more vigorously. As I said though, I, overall, truly enjoyed this jacket and the warm it gave me!
Super comfy and packable pullover performance
I live wearing this as an in-between transition layer in the fall/spring seasons. Living in MA means there's only about 1.5 months where it's comfortable temperature wise to wear it. Ideally temp ~50-60F. Super comfy and I sized up for an oversized fit to layer. I love the hood and that it comes with a compact carrying bag.
Versatile, packable layer for travel!
I love a featherlight layer I can scrunch small into my always overstuffed suitcase or backpack and pull out again when I need it. The Northface Circaloft compresses small into its own stuff sack and served me well on a recent trip the upper Great Lakes. While hiking in the Porcupine Mts on a drizzly, windy day (50s), this quarter-zip hoodie was a good layer to wear as it shed the intermittent mist and wind and then was easy to tuck into my daypack when I got warm. While I am not a big fan of quarter-zips, this is very easy to pull over (and slip back off) other layers without being restrictive and is true to size. The hood is well-designed, not over-sized, and adds the extra layer of warmth when you need it. The zippered hand and chest pockets are awesome: well-sized and securely hold phone, wallet, keys, snacks. The Dark Sage Camo Texture Print is attractive and you can wear this pullover from hike to dinner. It's the perfect layer to pack for a trip in the autumn and spring!
It's the new favorite jacket!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought as gift for 15 year old daughter. she wears it all the time. I'm kind of surprised I bought something cool enough. She says that its surprising warmer that it would seem. She likes that it is a pull over (It's a cardigan thanks for noticing ;))
